Looks like the whey is really working, that has gotta be the fastest cement mixing ever! ;-)

Nice one chez, it's funny you brought out the Whey container because i use the same one, but i dry mix the sand & cement in a bucket and then store it dry in the big Whey container until i need a bit then just pour it in a bucket and add water, that way it saves it for a long time without it going hard and keeps the back of the van : )

Great video. I was wondering what happens to a concrete mix if you add too much waterproofer? I am sealing concrete edge to a path of quarry tiles that were laid some 20 years ago on the top of the concrete path. The concrete decorative edge was added sometime later, as the tiles once came up in the hot weather all 1m long bit of a path just pop up off the concrete below and sat on the other lot. It was quite bizarre coming from holiday to find it. The concrete edge stopped that from happening, but now the mortar joint between deteriorated so I am replacing it, but I think I have added too much waterproofer as it was taking a very long time to dry. Will it affect the strength of the mortar? It was very nice to work with, well plasticised.

handyman.. I'm going to point my stone wall sometime next year, will I need to buy the ready made mortar mix that has lime in it? allowing it to breath. or just mix normal sand and cement myself ?

thanks & I love the videos it's helped me loads since doing up my house

I have a wall that needs repointing and instead of buying a ready mixed mortar I'd like to knock some up myself. What's the ratio for repointing, Google says different and some YouTube channels say different

You can do a decent size mix in a builders bath and if cleaned out well after can be used for concrete, sand & cement and backing plaster.or taking rubble to the tip.

Good stuff. Any sort of cement based powders will go off as soon as you open the packet. Plaster is notorious for it. I never save half a bag even if it's for the following day. Not worth it as it just goes off too quick. I sometimes buy the stuff from screwfix in a tub ready mixed. Just add water, saves buying a whole bag of cement that will go rock hard!

How many minutes should I mix once the water has been added please? I don't seem to be able to make the mix as fluffy as this, and when I put the brick down I can't level it. Thanks.

Last time i mixed some up i put too much water in, ended up chucking some spillzorbe in to dry it out. Lucky it was only to level a slab for a machine to sit on.
