In this video we have 1 goal. More horsepower. How far can we push the 1.8T GTI engine in my cheap VW Fox to make this car the king of all GTI's? Throughout this video we install a load of modifications to the car such as a new turbo amongst other mods and later we take the car for a remap to try to achieve this goal. But how much horsepower will our £700 VW Fox (which came out of the factory with 73bhp) make?

Jack, I'm more than old enough to be your granny. My nephews and niecies have followed in my footsteps and are in motorsports in a big way. You're doing your best so I want you to remember something - when you sit down to eat and your fork isn't clean, would you go and get a clean one? Of course you would. Tbh, i think some little aero tweaks (little boot lip, front lip and rocker panels) like a small GTI package woud be perfect cherry on that purple muffin cake. But those changes need to be subtle, not to rice it

as soon as the misfire started on run 2 and the dyno guy said its boost related i immediately said in my head "N75"

i've not owned a 20VT engined car for a but you never forget the issues you encounter over the years. i had a few N75 related issues when i had my mk1 Leon Cupra R.

You will struggle to get much more than your 285bhp (might just about nudge the 300 mark) without changing the OEM exhaust manifold. the stock cast manifold is quite restrictive. You can do some port and polish work for a tiny bit more flow, but ideally you need to replaced it with a bigger aftermarket one.

loving the content on i am a bit of a VAG geek, especially when it comes to either 20VT or PD130/150 engine

Hi Jack, hope you read this as it may help. 17705 is a very common code on the 1.8t’s especially when mapping.

1st thing would be to look for a leak (boost leak test or smoke test)

If you dont find any leaks there is a high chance that this could be a software bug in the ecu mapping. This can be patched. For more info feel free to ask.

Brilliant build 💪🏻💯 1 little bit of advice the cable tie on the fuel pump will break in a year. The little holding tab goes soft. been there! done that! with my old supercharged r32 . get a stainless steel one or a chemical resistant one, I used a stainless one, never failed after. The lad I sold it too, still driving it 9 yrs later.
