What never adds up for me is that the bottom number tells you what type of note... but I think it's really saying what type of subdivision per count.
I don't get it. This is why I just talk about songs I write by the loop count. This songs in 7. This songs in 3. Etc.

The bottom just muddies things, because I hear people say "well this means it's whole notes", and I'm like okay, but I'm playing a 4 count loop and there are different numbers of notes coming across each count.

I guess it has to do with the subdivision of notes, but still - this just is not clear.
