Time signatures are easy until you find π/64

Me, a prog fan: 11/64 could sound trippy though

"don't do 15/16, everyone will hate you"
ducktales moon theme: *are you sure about that?*

Although, scores that are mathematically the same dont necessairily sound the same. 3/4 vs 6/8 for example

Thank you for saying “note” instead of “demisemihemidemisemiquaver”.

Why did it take so many years for someone to put it this way? This makes it all so easy now

How many are we counting is the hardest question to get my students to answer! I I
Usually say “how many what, elephants?” But I’ll now be adding spoons into the rotation

"don't put that in your score though or everyone will hate you"

Me looking at my song in 17/16, among the others in 7/4, 13/8, 12.5/4, 11/8.... "maybe that's why I can't make friends"

Charles Cornhell: "Just don't play in weird time signatures and you'll be good"

Charles: "Why would somebody write that (11/64 time signature)? I DON'T KNOW"

Knowing what they mean is a lot easier than actually playing them

But then, once you understand this, you have to know that they only exist to tell you where the accented beats are, Because you can connect notes from different bars and can "convert" one time signature to another through metric modulations.

Stuff like this always makes me chuckle and think of Meshuggah's "New Millennium Cyanide Christ" with its 23/16

There are going to be people who watch this and ask the reasonable questions of "well what the hell defines what notes we are counting?? what defines the size of the measure?? whole note???what defines the length of a whole note???"
and then they look it up and it's something bull like "lmao you just gotta feel it, bro" or "The beat is often defined as the rhythm listeners would tap their toes to when listening to a piece of music" because music notation isn't real and it can't hurt you
