Honestly, this is the reason why I'm scared of seeing a gynecologist. I already suffer from social anxiety and having someone touch me there is just not cool for me. And I know they only do it when its necessary but still

You know the "I'm going to put this speculum inside you now" part? My entire life that part has *hurt*. Not "uncomfortable, " actually hurt. The most recent time I was at the gyn, I finally said something about it instead of just suffering in silence. I decided that if it was only supposed to be uncomfortable, but not painful, and it was painful, then something was probably wrong. I spoke up and the doc got to investigating. Turns out I actually have a medical issue that was causing the problem that I'd have never known about (and the doc wouldn't have thought to look for) if I hadn't finally said something about the pain. Just a bit of advice for others. If something doesn't feel right, talk to the doctor even if it's embarrassing. Maybe you really are making a mountain of a molehill, but maybe you aren't. Maybe there's a problem and you need to speak up and advocate for yourself.

Oh my god the ad I got was literally a video of two women explaining things about heavy periods and going to a gynacologist for it and I watched most of the way through before realising it was an ad!

I actually love my gynecologist! She is a fairly regular customer at the Starbucks I work at and we think it's hilarious how often we run into each other. She was my gynecologist before I was her barista (in case anyone was wondering).

I had to go to the clinic once only to find out that my doctor was on holiday and the only doctor there was a man. He had to bring in the receptionist because he can't preform a vaginal examination without another woman present in the room (clinic protocol). So I had a very uncomfortable male doctor and a small audience. FML.
