Honestly why go to the gyno if you know that's not going to work...

I’m not saying she shouldn’t see a gynecologist, but please please PLEASE TELL YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU ARE TRANS!!!! It doesn’t matter if you think it’s not relevant because it absolutely is. From figuring out medicine to dosage to treatment plans, it affects everything.

My mother had a patient a couple of years back that didn’t tell anyone that they’re trans and the prescription ended up worsening their condition because it wasn’t compatible. They almost died and my mother was so mad at them. She still gets mad about it whenever she shares hospital stories (she has some very wild ones).

So please just inform your doctor.

Edit: the amount of transphobes my comment attracted is concerning ngl. My comment is just telling people to be transparent with their doctors. To the people that called trans people “mentally handicapped”, you dropped these 👉🚨🚨🚨🚩🚩🚩

Gynecologists don’t treat a vagina. They treat the female reproductive system. AKA periods, endometriosis, pregnancies, ovarian cysts, cervical cancer, etc, all of which you DON’T have due to your male anatomy.

People in coms are saying to go to the gyno after bottom surgery but most gynos aren’t trained to help with bottom surgery. Make sure your gyno knows how to help!

That's something that needs to be mentioned before hand, even if it's uncomfortable.

I feel like that’s something you lead with when speaking to your gynecologist

If you're seeking care that involves the pelvic region, please disclose this information beforehand, even if it's just to the person scheduling your visit (they can make a note for the provider). It will save time and improve the accuracy of evaluation and treatments. Different body parts require different equipment, which can take time to sterilize or obtain. Also, some situations may require a chaperone (by facility policy or local laws), so knowing beforehand helps them make sure someone is available at your scheduled time.

As a professional sick person, I won't let a doctor touch me unless they review the basic essentials of my medical profile.
So uh yeah... Don't let any doctor touch you unless they KNOW you're trans. This is one area you cannot just be a man or just be a woman, there are important things to maintain if you want to be the true you you were meant to be.
Be open with your doctor BEFORE they open you!

This ain't it. Gynecologists are trained on dealing with specific anatomy.. anatomy that you don't have.

That's something you should be telling them from the time you walk in, if you really care about your health

accidentally not telling the gyno you're trans is actually wild

You really need to tell people that especially in medical care

Okay, I did some research because I too was confused af why a transgender with vaginoplasty would need to see a Gyno in particular and not other doctors.
A Gyno's specalty is more than JUST the vagina, they barely focus in it besides a visual check and questions. Most of the time they're focused on the cervix which is more techincally the opening to a whole other organ (uterus) that trans woman just don't have.
But here's what I found out, the penile tissue used for vaginoplasty is just as suscpetible to STDs like HPV, which can cause cellular changes that lead to cancer. And that needs to be regularly screened too.
So similar similar. Not the same but similar?
I guess it helps them with their mental transitioning 🤷‍♀️
ps. Don't shoot the messanger, just shedding some light on the controversial topic 😅

Y’all forget about doctor’s referrals. The surgeon most likely gave her a referral for that gynecologist as part of post-surgery care. She was following her doctor’s orders. If y’all took time to actually research things and stop jumping to conclusions about how this all works, maybe there wouldn’t be so many comments on this poor girl’s video screaming about her “taking away resources” or being delusional.

just wanna let u all know, trans women with bottom surgery (which she DOES have) are recommended to see a gynecologist once a year.

both cis and trans women alike can and should see gynecologists. she's not "taking away appointments" from cis women, she's making sure she's healthy and safe.

edit: i also agree that she should've told the gynecologist at their first interaction as they do need to know so they can accurately check up on her and/or treat anything bad.

You could have saved all that time by introducing yourself as a trans woman and explaining what you're there for. I know it can be dysphoric (from what I've heard from other trans people needing genital care) but a vaginoplasty functions differently to a female vagina so the checks will vary. You have a prostate which will affect your bottom surgery and this will also still require check ups (I lost my grandfather to prostate cancer). Your health is what's most important 👍

Why is a trans women going to a gynecologist? No shade I just don't understand. No uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries why a gynecologist instead of a GP or internist?
