Hey Gazelle, I followed your AT hike last year and it was amazing! I'm section hiking the AT now, but looking forward to hiking parts of the PCT in the future. Can't wait to see what you're going to show us this year!

I met a gal last year that has a duplex and she did not have any stakes at all and no free standing kit. She made patches for the ends of the lines and she just put rocks on them. I met her in the middle of the Sierras around mile 850 and she said she never wished she had stakes. I bet you ditch the self standing poles. I have the same tent and after 2200 miles I have no desire for it to be self standing. I don't think I saw even one with the free standing poles on the PCT. So far I've set it up on super soft sand and solid granite with no soil to put the stakes in. Just use rocks in top of the stakes that were laying sideways . . . :o) I have the Arc Haul. You have me beat by a pound on base-weight, I should ditch my umbrella but I love that thing haha
