"Picking gear for your first thru-hike can be intimidating. There are so many options and opinions available online, and the recommendations seem to change based on who you speak to. As someone who is in the process of completing their first thru-hike, I wanted to share some of the gear that I’ve switched or ditched along the way. Hopefully this info will help you decide on some gear to take when you hit the trail for your first thru-hike!

Ah...norwegian gears in that pile.
Norway do know what's working, in hard climate. Sun, warmth, rain, storm, blizzard with snow and ice, all in a short amount of time.

Hm, after hiking in the Alps for years. I value strong, waterproof, worn in, shoes as point 1. To avoid blisters, Nivea cream on the toes plus two pairs of socks
Second, a warm waterproof jacket.
Third, liquids and food.
Fourth paper map in waterproof sleeve plus compass.
