How to Backup Old iPhone & Restore to iPhone SE 2020 (Setup Process)

iPhone SE 2020 Setup Process (Keep & Transfer Contacts, Text Messages, Music, Apps etc w/ iCloud or iTunes)

Upgrading to an iPhone SE 2 from an iPhone 6S, SE, 7, 8 or X? Here's how you should backup and transfer content from your old iPhone over to your new iPhone SE 2020!

Note: You need to use the iCloud restore/backup if you're on iOS 12.3.1 or below, but you can use the transfer data method (shown in this video) if you're on iOS 12.4 or above.

iPhone 6 to SE. A bit of a tech novice here but transfer was slick as a whistle. Had a bit of a problem getting SIM card trays released but in a few minutes I had a new red phone. Hooray!

Just a quick correction. Doing my new SE right now, the firmware on the new phone wasn’t up to date. You don’t need to do what you say in your video near the end - once the phones are paired and the transfer starts, you update the iOS on the SE as part of the process, your old phone recognises this is happening and waits for the update / reset to happen on the SE before finishing the transfer. Pretty cool :)

I upgraded from the original SE to the 2020 SE. The basic setup was done at AT&T. When I got home I realized that my settings did not transfer. My old SE is running version 13.4.1 while my new one was 13.4. Thanks to your video, I learned that I had to update my new phone to version 13.4.1 so that the transfer would work. The process went smoothly. Thanks for the info!

@BradonButch you forgot to tell people that they have to turn of Find My before resetting the phone for resale, which is a very important step! If this is not done, then the new owner will not be able to set up there own apple account on the phone! Its a security measure for apple products!

I'm leaving this message on 12/4/20 - My original phone was an iPhone 6 Plus and I had the updated iOS 14.2. I thank you for your instructions they were very easy to follow. However, there were a few variations but nothing I wasn't able to handle. After the Siri instructions is when I received the alert to update the iPhone SE 2020 to iOS 14.2.
