Hermes is a gremlin~

I finally finished this after two near all-nighters, one scrapped animatic, and a lot of stress. I present my take on Dangerous! Go great-grandpa Hermes!

I keep forgetting that Hermes has a dozen roles outside of messages and thievery. He's also the god of safe travel so him building a better transportation device and glaring off the harpies is so in-character.

I love the little fact that, at the start, we see hermes with his regular helmet, wich means that's how he usually appears to mortals. However, when he appeared in front of ody, he immediately took off his helmet and put on glasses, which shows that hermes and ody have a close enough relationship to be comfortable with eachother.

First animatic to truly capture how earnest Hermes sounds. He’s a trickster- but this song reveals a different side to him. Especially during that “you’ll never make it home” in the bridge. He doesn’t sound laid back or mischievous he actually sounds incredibly real- like he WANTS Odysseus to make it back- and takes care in stating caution.

The sheer absolute JOY on Herme's face when Odysseus takes charge of he song towards the end. That what he wanted, to reignite his spirit, to see him stand on his own two feet rather than simply shamble through the motions of going home as a broken wreak who has spent the past 7 years wallowing in despair and self-hatred. He thought "Damn right! THIS is the REAL Odysseus! You got this, and ain't nothing gonna stop you!"

i love how this doesn't just show hermes as being a trickster but also shows hermes as a god of travelers, genuinely caring abt him and being serious with his advice.

I love how Hermes protects Ody from the Harpys. Like "Touch my great grandson and it will be the last thing you'll do".

I hope Jorge makes the hug canon like he did with Odysseus tucking his hair behind his ear when he was with the siren.

I like the part where Hermes stares down the harpys. Like in that moment, he drops the happy go lucky persona and reminds them, he's still a God.

Also, the way Hermes builds him a better boat highlights how he is the patron of travels !! Like "bro i can't send you towards Poseidon in that"
