INTJ: Nobody Gets You?

If you’re new to Geek Psychology, my name is Matt Sherman. People call me Sherman. I'm a personality type expert, life coach, hypnotist, author, podcaster, and course creator. I help mainly INFPs embrace their unique strengths and navigate life's challenges. Through practical strategies and deep insights, I aim to help people like you live a more fulfilling and authentic live where you can wake up and feel good about who you are and your impact on the world. Feeling lonely and like no one gets you? It's not uncommon for INTJs.
As an INTJ, using Introverted Intuition (the Mystic) as your primary cognitive function can feel isolating at times. You see the world in a unique way, and it can be hard to find others who share your perspective.
Only 5-7% of the population have Introverted Intuition as a strength, and it's even less as a dominant function, so it's understandable that you may feel like no one sees the world in the way you do. Because it's true!
Instead of focusing on what you don't have in terms of understanding from others, try to focus on the strengths that come from having such a unique perspective. You bring a level of insight and strategic thinking to the table that is highly valued.
Try reaching out to like-minded individuals, either online or in person, through groups, forums, or meetups focused on INTJs or personality type in general. These can be great places to connect with others who share your perspective and experiences.
Bonus tip: The better you get at creating and expressing what's going on inside through logical structure, the more likely you'll be able to be understood and have a bit of solace.

You really are a Healer. I (an INTJ-T) genuinely appreciate your work.

People unfortunately don't appreciate our skills. That is because we live in a society based on instant gratification and quick profits. What we, INTJs, mostly come up with are long-term plans, sustainable approaches into the future. In my experience, people don't care about this. I always felt like a fish out of water my whole life and I spent most of it thinking I was defected, or broken, or anyway something was wrong with me. My advice is: find your own crowd. Learn to identify, quickly and efficiently, people who have a very strong intuition (there are many ways in which one can see this) and stick with them. Your whole life will change.

From an INFJ, know that you INTJs are wonderful gifts! Finding y'all is finding a kindred spirit. We both walk around feeling like aliens, lonely and out of place, deeply misunderstood, and we make really good companions😁
I love this, I am an INFJ who is married to an INTJ. I absolutely adore how his mind works. Being Ni dominate myself also means we have a connection and understanding between each other that is unmatched by anyone else. And where we differ we balance each other!

The worst part about being an INTJ-A is that your insight is NOT valued. I was telling friends to buy bitcoin when it was $100. I said in 2019 we'd face a global black swan event within a year that would cause rocketing inflation and interest rates. I've pointed out development issues in my work place that I could see would inevitably grow into intractable problems within a year or two.

All I get is abuse. Then when I'm vindicated everyone has a bout of selective amnesia.

For about 5 years of searching for people in common like me sharing interests and perspective I couldn't find one 😞.
You really got my feelings 😢 .

It's not really about what we bring to the table. That is clear. We can use our Te and give the right solutions and insights for anybody if they ask. The issue is that this will not be reciprocated. There are times in life when we fail to catch some patterns or use our tunnel vision incorrectly, thereby missing some important details, which would finally lead to failure. It is truly sad that there won't be others who can help us prevent such setbacks because they don't go about doing things the way we do. Sure, people can humanize us, give us some social skills, make us more grateful and a little bit more outgoing and all that. But when it purely comes to achieving what we want (which kinda is the whole point of our existence), it is devastating that there will be no one who can understand us on an intellectual level and help us out and prevent said failures. Thats why it feels lonely. Not because we dont have people to talk to or think we cant socialize.

INTJ-A: I don't mind a whole lot if people don't get me, as long as I have that one person who does, and thank you for this.

Embrace the chaos and the emptiness of the universe! I mean....eat healthy, sleep better...bla bla bla. But yea, we all suffer in silence. Good luck out there INTJs. ~ENTP

I usually only feel lonely when around too many people

I appreciate your empathetic approach... However I don't require "their" approval to proceed as planned... I rather prefer my uninterrupted solitude.🖤

The good thing for us is we have many MBTI / INTJ channels ^^
Thanks to that, I got 3 great INTJ online friends.
Only another INTJ can really understand another INTJ, and know how it feel like. At least we feel lonely together.

I am an INFJ and our type is the only other type with dominant introverted intuition and we see the world in a similar way. Yes, we have auxiliary extroverted feeling while you guys have auxiliary extroverted thinking but we have allot in common just from our shared dominant function. I too know allot of the hardships that you have, either from having it myself or by witnessing it from other INTJs like a friend of mine and my mother. We INFJs get you guys, and that is something I am very glad to know. And, I know personally, you guys get us, we both have the worlds most rarest dominant function.

I often question if I actually know what loneliness is. I definitely think I don't belong, but at the same time I really don't care because I'm so focused on my future goals and life. That Fi is certainly a blind spot even when I spend a lot of time trying to speak to INFJs or other intense feeling types to understand it. At the end of the day I realize that I understand what music is but perhaps have never heard it.

INTJ-A here, thank you for sharing. I am struggling now because I work as a leader on several organization. I am good in thinking and forsee the vision, know what others plan even though they dont tell, but I often feel exhausted after gathering many people for long time (introvert hangover)
