as a person who uses Davinci Resolve as their first(and main) editing software, i never realized that some of the "annoyances" mentioned in this video are actual grievances people would have switching from premiere to davinci. i guess it's just the case of being used to a certain software lmao

Been using resolve for years, and recently switched to affinity for photoshop needs.
It's crazy how the alternatives feel so much like they give you more freedom to create what you want whilst allowing you release yourself from the greed of the elites.

There are two types of people. People who change their hands to their keybinds, and people who change their keybinds to the hands.

Honestly it's quite infuriating seeing you forcibly apply the same exact workflow on a completely different piece of software. It seems to me like, instead of treating it as an alternative, you're looking for a clone of premiere. I'd first try to experience it with default features and keybinds, with a really slow initial workflow, and then adapt it to my needs. This way you'll end up learning ways to do things which might be faster, or better than in the app you're trying to replace.

I've been a resolve editor for years after switching from premiere. it was definitely a bit of a learning curve but now I'm completely accustomed to resolves default shortcuts. it seems like you're trying to apply effects in the same manner as premiere which isn't always the best option. its much easier and you'll have more control when doing motion graphics or any sort of movement effect in the fusion tab. it also includes simple 3d rendering which is essentially after effects and premiere all in one software. it's not very intuitive to do any of the zoom ins, digital pans, or any cropping in the edit tab because of how clunky the key frames are. fusion nodes are intimidating at first but allow you to see key frames, spline, and automatic motion blur, and a lot more tools not accessible in the edit tab. I used to be very intimidated by the nodes in fusion, but after getting over the learning curve, my workflow has been seamless. hope you continue to use davinci resolve because it's so worth it!!

Adobe has patented quite a few “features” that have locked other software out from implementing those features.

This was painful to watch, you tried to brute force davinci into premiere instead of adapting to the more streamlined and intuitive workflow of davinci

the "laggy timeline" issue you had is actually just becuase davinci resolve is finnicky about where you grab the slider. You just need to grab it at the very top and it'll be smooth. The tools also have keybinds, so switching between them is actually pretty easy. The sequence B + M1 + A for example will place a cut where your mouse is. I find this approach much nicer than having to reach for alt, ctrl and shift keys all the time. I feel like if you're going to review davinci resolve you should also start of with the default settings. You look up keybinds, and then are surprised they don't work when you've chosen a different keyboard layout.

As far as I am aware DaVinci Resolve is not only a competitor to Premium Pro its also a competitor to After effect

Correction: By using PIA you prevent your ISP from seeing where your traffic is going, and instead you give some company based in the UK that ability. So you're still in a see-through public toilet, it's just someone else that can see you, instead of your ISP.

note:
1. Your internet traffic is already encrypted through HTTPS.
2. You only change who can see the data, and the government could still try to get the VPN company to log some traffic.
3. Using TOR is free and works better at concealing your traffic, also, using it delutes the TOR traffic so not only whistleblowers, people in countries with ooressive governments, etc are using it. Having more people use TOR makes it less clear what peoole use it for, since your ISP can stil see that you use TOR, just not what you use it for.

I'm glad people give this software a try. I've been using it for years and I don't see any reason for me to switch to adobe. Love your videos, keep it up!

First - no need to export project files it is way safer in database, database can be set on any folder /drive, 2nd those annoying zoom in can be done with dynamic zoom which is way faster . 3rd Resolve was color grading software that costed 80000$+ they made a free version if it and even added NLE and audio editor in it ! Premier can suck ahh , I had to redo 3 hour long projects because adobe with new premier update disabled auto back and then they removed names from audio file, resolve was pain at begining but then it all made sense and it is quite faster than premier especially footage stabilizing and smart ai masking stuff

You don't really need the on-screen guide in your case because you can simply change the anchor point and that's the point where davinci zooms in to
