DIY Natural Body Wash - NATURAL BEAUTY SERIES | HONEYSUCKLE

The Skin is our largest organ so I think it's crazy that we unknowingly subject it to foreign chemicals. I recently started making my own body wash using all natural ingredients so I know exactly what goes into it, but it's also really fun because I get to switch up the smells using essential oils. Natural Body wash Recipe:

Ingredients -
- ⅓ cup raw honey

- ⅓ cup melted coconut oil

- 15-20 drops essential oil:

- ¾ cup Castile soap. I recommend Dr. Bronner's:

Preparation -
I'm taking ⅓ cup of raw honey and mixing it in a measuring cup with ⅓ cup of melted coconut oil and 15-20 drops of essential oil, depending on how strong you want it to smell. I'm using sweet orange oil because i Love citrusy smells and it pairs really well with honey and coconut. I recommend Rose or Lavender for a more luxurious smell. For the Honey make sure that the label says "raw," "unpasteurized," or "unfiltered". Raw honey will gently remove dirt and impurities without stripping the skin of natural oils.

The coconut oil acts as Skin softener and has moisturizing effects that will help heal dry skin. Be sure to use extra virgin, organic oil. Make sure that the label doesn't say "hydrogenated, refined, or bleached" in any way. Next I'm slowly adding in ¾ cup of castile soap. I recommend the Dr. Bronner's Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap because it contains no fragrance and is and has olive oil. Castile soap will give this body wash that sudsi-ness. It's a natural soap that's made with vegetable oils. Now gently stir everything with a spoon and be careful not to whip too much air into it.

Finally I'm just going to pour the mixture into my glass soap dispenser and it's ready for my next wash. Give this Natural Body Wash a try and let me know what fragrance you'd choose. I'll see you on the next Natural Beauty. Bye!

Amazing, i used Sweet almond oil instead of coconut oil because coconut oil break me out and used Cinnamon, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Labdanum oil and i put little Sea Buckthorn oil to give it antioxidant effect and vitamin E oil to extend shelf life it smells divine, also you can use Tea tree oil it has antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect

Just tried this morning. My skin felt so nice and healthy, and soft. I added 23 drops of essential oil though. And I could barely smell them. I smelt mainly honey (not a bad smell of course) but the rest got lost. I might need more like 40 drops of the essential oils. I am definitely continuing to use though. Very easy to make too.

Recipe is great I make a larger batch with no essential oil until I am ready to use. A foamer bottle is great to use, instant lather just follow directions for filling it ( each manufacturer is different) then add the oils I want . It allows for lots of varieties, lavender for relaxation, add rosemary with lavender for muscle aches . Lemon & rosemary for focus in morning. When using citrus blends be cautious in sun, apply extra sunscreen. So many scents to choose from, great recipe for clean healthy skin.

I tried this and I've been loving it! I read somewhere else that this can be used as a shampoo as well, but it was a bad idea. It left my hair greasy because of the coconut oil. As a body wash, its great! Thank you for sharing tis!

I think I whipped in to much air. I used peppermint Castile soap and it was divine. I got some in my mouth when I was washing my face and it was sweet. no chemical taste or smell. Why didn't I try this sooner. Can this be used as shampoo as well?

Hi!! I love the recipe! Can't wait to try!! I got some questions though - What would be the shelf life of this recipe? Can I add tea tree essential oil to increase the shelf life or as a preservative to avoid bacterial growth? Lastly, is it necessary that this must be put in a glass jar or plastic soap dispenser would do? Hope to see your answers soon, thanks!

Thanks for the share. I have very sensitive skin after subjecting myself to many different chemicals over the years, so am getting more and more into making my own deodorants and soaps. At least I know what chemicals go in them then. Any ideas about what scents would be good for guys? Not that I mind smelling like a rose, per se, hehhehheh but there are these soaps out there that are like "musk" or "wilderness" scents for men and I'm trying to learn more about how to replicate them. I added lavender essential oil to mine and it gave an ok smell.... Kinda wish i did a different one ..i made a double batch of this body wash and i felt like it needed more castile soap ... Wasn't soapy enough ... I also noticed it seemed to produce more soap using a loofah rather than a wash cloth.
