We still have a lot of work to do on notebook testing, since it's been about a year since our notebook GPU bench was updated. For now, we start with the 1050 Ti.

I didn't know that the 1050ti in my laptop was more powerful than a 970M. I thought they were on par and that the 1050ti was just more power efficient and ran cooler which is the reason I bought it.

I just picked up the MSI GS63VR with the I7 7700 and the 1060. I really like it.

When a laptop gets that large and expensive you might as well get a desktop. Unless you truly travel around a lot like I did in the Military, but once I was out I found laptops to be not so useful and inconvenient when once parts gets outdated.

My daughter has been trying to get me to buy her a gaming laptop and I was looking at the HP laptops with GTX 1050 Ti and IPS screens. I'm hoping to see some deals this fall ahead of the holidays.

i5 is rare?
In my country they usually put an i5, cut down the ram, take out the ssd and replace with a slow hdd to make gaming laptops a "budget" gaming laptop.

To get the same specs we'll have to pay around 300 dollars more.

So, buying anything higher than a 1070 with a HQ processor is kind of a waste of money, it's already slightly bottlenecking on an i7 6700HQ @3.3 / 3.5 ghz Might not even worth going past a 1060 6GB
