What it means to submit to your husband

I think this is one of the most difficult conversations to have for women and just as difficult of a conversation for men to have with women. I also believe it is growing increasingly harder to grasp and talk about the more our world heads in the opposite direction of what the Bible teaches. Let's dive in today & talk about it!

People often forget that while wives are to submit to their husbands, husbands are commanded to love their wives as Christ loved the church. When a man loves a woman enough to lay down his life for her, to put her ahead of himself and to always have her best interests at the forefront of his decision making, it would be surprising if she had a hard time trusting and submitting to a husband like that. So for the men, it starts with us showing that love that Christ modeled for us.

thank you, taylor. i grew up with a christian mother and an atheist father so i was never truly taught what a healthy, god-fearing household or relationship looked like. my parents both had several untreated mental health issues which caused unpredictable emotional outbursts, a constant fight for power, horrible communication, amongst a lot of other trauma. i'm getting married in april and i want to be a proverbs 31 woman. if not for me, or for my husband, then for my future children. i want to give them the childhood and the examples that i never had.

I’m so ready to have a Godly husband one day.

It’s so incredibly tiring to hear everyday that a submissive wife is apparently immediately oppressed, abused and unhappy. A truly Godly husband would never cause his wife any suffering.

God’s formulas are indeed the best ones out there, I agree. The longer i’m alive the longer I can clearly see the intentional design of everything. Rebelling against the original design will never lead to a better one.

Amen. Love is a choice. Not a feeling. It's crazy how the meaning has completely been forgotten about in our society. God does not want us to make decisions based off of our decisions, but based off of choosing to love our neighbor even if we do not want to. So yes, love is also about sacrifice!

I saw it put this way once: when my husband comes home he gets to turn his brain off bc he knows I have it covered and when we leave the house I get to turn my brain off bc I know he’s got us covered.
