I posted this last week but YouTube bugged out and sent the short into the video library. This time it's in the correct place. Apologies for the mishap.

I'd call it a task that failed successfully

The third crusade failed. France and England set out to take the holy land. Richard was personally successful, but the crusade failed.

Not really it strengthened the position of the crusader states even though it didn’t succeed in taking its main objective.

Richard may have had the heart of a lion, but unfortunately for England, he had the brains of a turnip.

Definitely a Draw the Crusaiders failed to take Jerusalem, but the Muslims also failed to kick the Christians out.

Third Crusade had so many positives, it allowed inside Christian families who were already a part of Jerusalem and area, to live freely in their place, it restored hope for all, yes it maybe regarded as "brief". The respect between the opposing sides, was now seen and Saladin kept his word. Europeans who stayed integrated and peace and pprosperity was the outcome. Yes another Crusade came later, but it showed the willpower and confidence of Richard "The Lionhearted", to leave the Holy land, and get back to his domain. Although briefly. Shame the warring kickstarted back Europe, between France and England. And Richard the I, losing his life to a crossbow bolt during a siege. But its fascinating that an mutual outcome was maintained even if short lived in the Holy Land.

The real success where the friends they made on the way. (Richard and Saladin become buddies)

Militarily Richard achieved all his objectives. The Crusader States and safe Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem were reestablished. Doing this while thousands away from home territories and defeating one of the middle east greatest ever commanders.

And suddenly some Europeans came out of nowhere in 1948 and stole the land.

It failed but was successful as well. If only Barbarossa did not die, with his men and Richard's they had a very good chance at taking Jerusalem and keeping it

The Third Crusade (1189–1192) is often seen as a partial success rather than a complete failure. While it did not achieve its primary goal of recapturing Jerusalem from Saladin, it did have significant outcomes that were viewed as successes at the time. Here’s a brief overview:

Successes:
1. Recapture of Key Cities:
- The Crusaders, led by Richard the Lionheart of England, managed to recapture several important coastal cities, including Acre and Jaffa. These victories secured a crucial foothold for the Crusaders in the Holy Land.

2. Treaty of Jaffa:
- Richard the Lionheart negotiated a truce with Saladin in 1192, known as the Treaty of Jaffa. This agreement allowed Christians to access the holy sites in Jerusalem as pilgrims, even though the city remained under Muslim control. Additionally, the Crusader states retained control over the coastal territories they had recaptured.

Failures:
1. Jerusalem Remained Under Muslim Control:
- The primary objective of the Third Crusade was to recapture Jerusalem, which had fallen to Saladin in 1187. Despite several military successes, the Crusaders were unable to take the city.

2. Lack of Long-Term Stability:
- Although the Crusaders managed to establish a stronger presence along the coast, they failed to secure the interior regions, including Jerusalem. The peace achieved by the Treaty of Jaffa was relatively short-lived, and the Crusader states continued to be vulnerable to future Muslim advances.

### Conclusion:
The Third Crusade is not considered a total failure because it accomplished significant military and diplomatic successes, particularly in re-establishing a Christian presence in the Holy Land and securing rights for Christian pilgrims. However, it fell short of its most ambitious goal—recapturing Jerusalem—leading to a mixed legacy.
