I hope this video convinces someone out there to go ahead and get that sailboat. Good times ahead. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel. Happy sailing!

Lol. Your presail checklist makes me thankful to live in the Puget Sound.
Weekly club racing...A playground of islands to hop around. Lots of protected places to tuck into if things get too sporty.

The term you are searching for.. nvmd. You got it.

Those are pretty easy to replace. (I spent a little time working in a sail loft.)

I like hanks for the relative ease of being able to choose the sail you need for that days conditions. (Or for sail changes between races).

Thanks for the videos!

Great video and super informational too! Your in-depth explanation of your pre-departure checklist was great and taught me a few things, which I find are often left out of other sailing channel videos. Again, awesome editing, it always cracks me up! Keep it up, love watching your videos😃

Hello Captain- the Maniacal Siren looks great out there! Hope you weathered the bad storm that went through Houston a couple of weeks ago.

Inspiring. I’m getting a hitch installed on my car next week then I’m going to try to buy a sailing dinghy, maybe something like an O’Day 17’ as a learning vessel.

Nice run through. Great logistics video. Yeah, overpaid for a beat up 1971 Catalina 22. But made up for it with my 86 Sanibel 18. Honestly

If you do your own work..costs are a gallon of gas or 2 a year, lines every 5 years and new pfd's as needed. Our club is a volunteer one, so 18$ a month to keep in slip and a few hundred a year to retain Membership. I guess antifouling paint every 5 years and sandpaper too.

1) If you don't have a lot of money, buy a trailerable boat. (They are suitable for lake sailing and inshore sailing, they not bluewater boats, in general. There are exceptions.) 2) If you have a trailerable boat, generally under 22 ft., look for campgrounds that offer free boat ramp use and overnight docking, so you only have to launch the boat and raise your mast once for 2+ day's sailing. Some of these campgrounds, at lakes, have inexpensive cabins as well. We pull our P-18 with either a 2007 Forester or a 2010 RAV-4 3) Best NOT to think of a boat that isn't under 1500 lbs displacement, or easily launched on a daily basis, as a SMALL sailboat. Anything else is a big, very expensive sailboat. Marina slip fees, yacht club fees, even boatyard fees, along with maintenance costs, make bigger sailboats very expensive.

Hi, your video just popped up on my YouTube. I'm 55 and have wanted to learn to sail since I was a Boy Scout many years ago and got my first taste of lake sailing at our camp in an old Sunfish. I'm a professional chef and have a catering business for over 30 years now. Since I don't live near the ocean, it's so difficult to learn to sail. I watch videos and my wife and I drove to Annapolis a few times for the sailboat shows there and we took a very basic, introductory sailing lesson. I really want to learn but how can someone like me practically learn when I must drive a few hours just to get to the shore? It's really frustrating. We do have a large, local lake but it's always full of jet skiers and small motorboats that tear it up. I feel like I'm missing out on something I really want badly and I'm afraid I'll be too old soon to learn and own my own sailboat. I wish I knew how to make a living so I could perhaps live on a sailboat. I feel like when I watch these videos from other sailors, like yourself, I want to do what you all do but it's out of reach for me.
Anyway, I like your channel and I'm so glad you get to enjoy sailing. Wish so much I could be out there with you.
