A trick I use in the field is buy your own waste arm after the j bend and cut a notch on the top where you can fit your cable in comfortably. It allows you to run water while you cable and you know where the blockage is because the water overflowing out of the notch on top will go down. Plus running water will clean your cable too.

I have a bathtub that clogs every couple years. The plumbing is strange because I have to clear it using the sink. Won’t get anything going down the clean out. I don’t get it. Always happens in the same place. 8-9 feet in it just does not want to move forward anymore and gets stuck. You can pull it free but it you do have to tug a bit. Last time got a clump of hair about the size of two iPhone chargers. Must be some kind of strange junction.

Issue for me though is that I have a hand crank snake. My arms tire out pretty fast.

Why would you pull the trap for a lav stoppage brother I roll straight from the top I can get through and p trap ever lol I'm all about less mess and doing it faster.

The clog was in the pipe coming down from the lav. 😂😂😂😂

Should have installed a Y piece with a screw cap to the drain pipe, right near the wall. then next time, and there will be a next time, all you need to do is just unscrew the cap then rooter the line. save a few steps of disconnecting the p trap.
