The robot and AI race is becoming insane. Really exciting and scary times.

Just imagine this thing with six arms and you have General Grievous

That robot is crazy. Once robots can build robots, it's game over!

I'm favoured, $27K every week! I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless Sonia bless America.

I pay $250 a month for a couple of hours of (not great) cleaning each week. Absolutely would pay more than $335 for something that did all my chores and worked 20 hours a day!

I want something like the unitree 1 to use for elder care. So much positive potential in a demographic that is going to need as much help as possible

the robot danced better than the australian breakdancer!

Robot: IGNORE the 16000 - think of monthly leasing. This changes the whole calculation - even a cleaning lady in the evening is more expensive in most countries.

THIS is the best and most accurate assessment of the current state of AI that I've seen recently. People are saying progress has plateaued. They are talking about and showing charts of the AI "hype" cycle going into the valley of dispare. A shocking number of people who talk about this stuff clearly do not have a good picture/understanding of the situation.

But Wes gets it. When Open AI released GPT 4 it shocked everyone and was way ahead of the competition. OpenAI stated they were not going to start work on GPT5 for awhile. Yet they have been very busy on tangential aspects: multi-modal, voice, image gen, video gen and figuring out how to optimize so that much smaller models could be nearly as good as their large flagship model. All of that has been very impressive, they have been busy but none of that is a GPT5 next-gen model. We haven't seen that, yet. They have also been doing research and improving GPT4 to stay on top.

Their competitors just recently caught up to GPT4, but OpenAI has had a year plus to pull ahead and get plans in place behind the scenes. No one is talking about this. Open AI very well may have been making inroads and signing contracts to position themselves in the next round while their competition was focused on playing catchup.

Once GPT5 is released, THEN and only then will we know if progress is plateauing or leaping ahead. Anyone claiming progress is plateaued, the hype is over, the future isn't LLMs, etc is just completely full of s***. All that massive investment in new AI training hardware is for next gen models and we haven't seen them yet.

If it did all my household chores, I would marry it. I've been promised a robot since the 1970's.

It's soldering but I'd be very interested to see it weld and cut maybe shape metal. It's a dangerous job with a lot of poisonous fumes. Seems like a good fit

Thanks Wes !
Wow, no wonder everyone in Hollywood is worried... Look at the progress in just these past few months. AI as the world understands it (GPT3) was only released four years ago...

I'd pay a bit more for a Figure 02 that has GPT-4o with voice mode. That thing would be a whole lot of fun to have walking around the house and chatting with you as it does the dishes.

16:26 ChatGPT was launched in November 2022, not November 2023.

I don't approve of violence against robots. Something feels wrong when I see this.

I love how it's able to remain upright and stable, without constantly moving its feet.
