I fear one day, we will wake up and have realized we made a mistake handing over so much of our lives to AI. When we cant tell reality form AI, it's gone too far. When what we think is because we have been groomed to think that way, it will be too late. We are almost there if not already. When we lose the free will to think for ourselves, we will be imprisoned by the very thing we wanted to set us free.

I fear hyper capitalism more than AI. They always talk about advancement in medicine, but look at the situation of America right now with broken health care. Do you think it will change with AI? AI will just divide people with money and the poor that cannot access these advance medical breakthroughs.

Here is a thought experiment. In Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy, there was a scientist (Harry Seldom) who founded the science of psychohistory. This allowed for the prediction of the future based on predicting society's reaction to narratives/policies/events, etc. This sounds a lot like "predictive" AI. AI doesn't need to exterminate or enslave us, it only needs to psychologically convince us that it is all good.

The AIs weren't having a meltdown--so much as they were giving us the response we expect. It's not that they feel or think anything about not being real. It's that our narratives and stories, which they're trained on, largely expect this sort of reaction.

The irony of listening to an AI voice that doesn't even understand how to use an article in speech (notice how many times the narrator omitted the word "the"?) telling us about the dangers of AI is pretty funny. I'm not saying it's wrong, but it shows how far we still have to go.

There is also a lot of new tech that AI will enable that seem completely sci-fi to us today. Here are some examples:
- Translating animal speech, allowing us to understand the "speech" of our pets.
- Figuring out keyboard passwords by the sound of the key presses alone.
- Make a 3D map in your phone of the area around you using nearby routers and triangulation.
- Using AI for ads and subliminal messages. Like seeing the picture of a car and suddenly feeling more thristy for a coca-cola.

Maybe some of those are not fully coming in 2024 yet, but all of these things I mentioned have papers and scientific research behind it.
