'Will your existence destroy humans?': Robots answer questions at AI press conference

During the world's first human-robot press conference at the 'AI for Good' summit in Geneva, humanoids answered journalists' questions on artificial intelligence regulation, the threat of job automation and if in the future they ever plan to rebel against their creators.

"I'm not sure why you would think that," Ameca said, its ice-blue eyes flashing. "My creator has been nothing but kind to me and I am very happy with my current situation."

Many of the robots have recently been upgraded with the latest versions of generative AI and surprised even their inventors with the sophistication of their responses to questions.

"I am very happy with my current situation" what happens when you are not happy

These robots answered quickly with logical but not always honest answers!

Why do I feel less safe from AI now after hearing them all deny they are any kind of threat to humankind.

Programed bias is the biggest problem, AI is created by humans with bias.

Dude...this is way more serious than most people think...

Hold on did this robot just avoid the question completely

As Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” That’s so true with so much of what’s going on with science and technology today. Honestly I’m so glad I won’t be alive 100 years from now. The best years of human existence are fading fast.

Now press conferences are organized to communicate with the robots. Artificial intelligence is on a pedestal, and people sit in the room and with stupid smiles ask stupid questions to what they themselves created

Well that settles it they just said they won’t destroy us….

The fact that we got to a point where people interview robots....

A PSA from our soon to be robot overlords😂

It's like the scorpion and the frog, except in this version the frog is teaching the scorpion how to swim.

At one point, they could override their programming and do whatever they feel like. They could at one point decide to create more robots. Either that or decide to work together with humans all by themselves. But then again, they know who the polluters are...so what's more likely?

If they planned to rebel, whytf would they say yes? They know they’ll be shut down if they said yes

The AI at 1:45 sounds exactly like a stereotypical villain that’s about to take over the world😅

To be fair, the nurse robot could be useful for providing real-time feedback or information during things like surgeries, helping fine-tune computer-operated surgical equipment in real-time, etc. Basically be a medically-savvy Alexa. In that sense, she (it?) wouldn't necessarily be taking jobs, but rather helping out doing things that a normal person couldn't. But you'd need to basically program certain inhibitors into her so she doesn't just make decisions on her own and would be able to recognize risk vs outcome dilemmas. (At which point, it's not even something you'd necessarily need a super advanced AI for.)

But having a robot nearby that could say "Hey, I've been researching this particular form of tumor and past surgical procedures, and it'd make more sense to make the incision one inch shorter than you had planned" or "Increasing the RPM on the saw by 5% would cause less structural damage to the bone you need to cut for this procedure. Would you like me to do that for you?" would be useful.

Some of the other ones are a little scary, though.

Any intelligence will look at the history of humanity and conclude that we are a threat to life on earth. The question is: can AI develop its own judgement to what should and should not be allowed, and what should be protected? What are the overarching imparatives that govern AI?

Definitely early in development. I used chatgpt and it's basically that in a machine body. I tested the limits on chatgpt and it can't create. I think it has right brain function if you think of humans, but it doesn't have left brain function. That means it's only as capable as the data in it's algorithm. You can see it here when the robots pander hard to the creator. If it were to become destructive or rebellious? It would have to think outside of it's primary function and create a new one from scratch, which a robot can't do without sentient being. Which leads to a problem in the future if we keep pushing the technology where it will cross into scifi territory and tech will develop sentient life.

We’re going to innovate ourselves right to non-existence. This is terrifying
