Sligo is a county of two tales
1. The scenery and history are second to none in Ireland.
2. But it’s all let down by poor city infrastructure. The town of Sligo itself has not only been held back by the chamber of commerce for the last 25 years it’s actually regressed to the point that there’s only 1 commercial street remaining with even that having dipped business occupancy levels.

It’s a shame as it could position itself as a Galway competitor for culture art and shopping had the opportunity of 2 economic booms not been passed over by cronyism.

Interesting that Irish accents sound much more Dublin like, than they used to. 50 years ago when I used to spend a lot of time in the west, most people had strong, what you might call country accents. That kind of speech seems to be disappearing, if not vanished already.
But, in this clip, the people are still warm and charming.

I was born in Sligo. When I was growing up people used to say it was the prettiest town in Ireland with the most miserable people.

Parts of County Down can be quite posh. Areas such as Cultra, Holywood, Helen's Bay, Killyleagh and Comber. Some areas around Strangford Lough as well.
