Uber has been ripping drivers off for a such a long time.

You do know Uber was there for people to make a little extra income. The people that made Uber didn’t think people were going to do it as a full-time job and expect to actually make a living. That’s like working in McDonald’s for minimum wage and expecting to actually make a living. That’s why you’re parents always say go to school or you’ll end up like these guys

This was never meant to be a full time job. You have an afternoon off from your real job you can make some extra money doing these as a side job.

Sounds like it was a great idea to allow Uber and other “ride-sharing” services (*cough* unlicensed taxis *cough*) to completely ignore taxi laws! So beneficial for everyone involved (except the drivers and customers).

This wasnt the intent for ubers platform. the main quality of life was working on your own schedule.. this app was NOT meant to be a full time gig.

These comments are a mix of classism and racism. Driving for Uber or Lyft is clearly a "real" job because there is demand for the service and people are doing it full-time to earn a living. The idea that these drivers are "independent contractors" is laughable given that the companies set the rates and control the app, which is the key tool of the job. Without the app you're just a guy with a car driving around. These drivers deserve to be paid fairly, and have the protection and benefits of regular employment standards legislation

Uber is not a job. It is an opportunity to make some money when you ride to pick up kids from karate class, go to shop in Costco or meet your inlaws in airport.
