I'll be the judge of whether is shorter or not

4 multiplications
2 additions/subtractions
1 division
total steps = 7

Elimination/Equating coefs. method

3 multiplications (only when coefs are not equal)
2 additions/subtractions
1 division (in case where the coef is not 1)
total steps = 6

Analysis specific to this particular set of equations.

Just multiply the 2nd equation by 7
and then add both equations. you get 17x=34 so x=2 Then substitute for y

Isse easy toh elimination aur substitution hi h 🙂

We have marks for each methods in boars exams, so use the methods given in ncert books

First, multiply the two equations by necessary multiples such that the coefficients of y's in both equations are the same:

1. Multiply the second equation by 7:
14x + 7y = 7

2. Multiply the first equation by 1:
3x - 7y = 27

Now, add both equations to eliminate the y variable:
(14x + 7y) + (3x - 7y) = 7 + 27
14x + 3x = 34
17x = 34

Now, divide by 17:
x = 34/17
x = 2

Now that we have the value of x, substitute it into one of the original equations to find the value of y. Let's use the second equation:
2x + y = 1
2(2) + y = 1
4 + y = 1

Subtract 4 from both sides:
y = -3

So, the solution is x = 2 and y = -3.
