Oberheim is back in a big way, relaunching its world-famous OB-X. The 40-year-old legend gets a full reboot though, letting you choose between three different OB architectures of the past—the original OB-X, OB-Xa, and OB-8—and the ability to make sounds no other previous model can make.

Wow. . .the arpeggiator acts like an old Cyclone PerFx . . Holy crap. I love those things even though they were so buggy. I had 7 at one point. .so glad that functionality has been brought back.

I really like the fact that desirable 5-octave synthesizers are back. Instruments like the Prophet-5 Rev.4 or this brand new Oberheim, these instruments are probably not for me, personally, but I am happy to see such instruments around. I was simply not happy with the Prophet-6 or OB-6. Now I am happy. Big difference. Thank you.

The original obx came in two frontpanel finishes, some were satin and had very fine bubbles if you ran your finger over them, some had a flat matt finish with no bubbles, looks like they went for the matt on this one

Van Hagar??? Sacrilege! ;) seriously though now I’m hearing some beefy low end. Seems to be more when the Curtis filter is enabled. That would make sense as the SEM filter is 2-pole and lets a lot more high frequencies through.
