Infosys, Capgemini, cognizant all these are consultant companies which will outsource employee to client.
I am also working in one of the above mentioned company.
So why I am telling this is they take interview (Infosys orCG) if we select again we need to give interview on client side.
And one another thing if all OK then daily process you need to concentrate on both company your parent company as well as client, both side need to put attendance/leaves

The interviewer appears more confused than the candidate. The candidate is giving nonsensical answers that don't even make sense. How did he get selected?

The interviewer lacks knowledge. This is also not the correct way to evaluate a candidate, asking theoretical questions only and not correcting the candidate's wrong answers.
