Took these out for a test drive today in a 1000+ capacity room. Audio demos don't really translate very well on video, so here's a vlog with some thoughts from the sound check
Enjoy!

I'm an EV user and love them. I run the 12"s and 18"'s ekx about to order a pair of 15"s to open her up and let them all go at a very large venue. Thanks for the review nice to know the differences.

What is your take on EV ETX 12P vs QSC K12? What about Cerwin Vega's P1000X (10" Full Range - 1000W Peak/500W RMS - My opinion 350W Actual Continuous)? I was considering the EV's over QSC. Reason I ask, is all my friend DJs are flocking to buy QSC K12 and want me to buy a pair. I already own the CV P1000X and CV P1500X and I am very happy with the sound quality. I use the CV P1000X for house parties or banquet rooms and the CV P1500X for everything else (Grand Ballrooms, Halls, etc.).

That ETX sub is only 57 lbs? Good lord that is lightweight! I never would have imagined.

It’s crazy how light the ekx is. Just did a Halloween gig over the weekend with a friend and we paired my KW181 with his EKX18...the EV felt so lightweight I couldn’t believe a speaker was actually in it I could one hand that sub all day. Mine of course is heavier but has more power. It’s obvious why the EKX has no casters cause it’s so easy to pick up. The KW181 is not that difficult but it will def hurt your back carrying it so the casters are really convenient.

Yo Brian! What do you think about me adding two EKX 15Subs with my two top ETX 12s? I just don't have the room in my truck to do ETX subs.

Cool, sounds like a good time. I haven't had an event over 250 in years. My next two weddings coming up are 90 &120 respectively. It's nice to know my EKX system will handle more than I expected if needed. Thanks Brian

Hello! Great video! I am just wondering - and I assume you were comparing apples to apples but were your friend's ETX speakers 12's as well? I am considering the EKX-15P...but of course, I would love to have the ETX-15P but the price point is almost 600 higher per speaker. So for the price, sound, and weight difference, I don't know if it is worth it.

I currently have 2 EV zlx 12" and I'm thinking of adding 2 new tops for bigger venues. At the moment these both run at $899 each. which ones are better, the QSC K12.2 or EKX-12P. I also have 2 EKX-15 subs. Thank you. Great video as always.

hey Brian I'm got the ekx love them I just recently added a dbx driverack to them and the fine tuning the drive rack did for the 15" tops and 18" subs can tell a huge difference compared on not using a drive rack to using one so I recommending to use a driverack. great video man. keep them coming.

Please Help Me Chose…. Should I BUY… 2 EKX 18sp SUBS OR 2 ETX 15sp SUBS. These would be my Medium to Large Venue Subs…. I know the ETXs have more WATTS but are heavier and smaller…. The EKXs are Bigger but Lighter and Less WATTS…. Which should I BUY….??

Hi Brian, thank you for the video. I only play music and karaoke. I have a Mackie ProFX8v2 series passive mixer as I'm presently running my main out to (2) EV ZLX15 powered tops. My PC is plugged into channel 7/8 R/L on mixer for stereo music playback purposes. I am getting a (1) lone EV EKX 15sp tomorrow to add to my bass and maybe another later as that will be fine for my needs. I've never owned a subwoofer as I'm not sure how to hook it up. Is there a way to and should/can I connect it to have a separate volume to adjust the subwoofer? Or should I come from the mixer's main out into the sub inputs 1 and 2 and out of the sub outputs 1 and 2 into each top for stereo and not have a separate volume control from the mixer for the subwoofer separately? I prefer stereo not mono sound. Seems I should have the subwoofer on a separate volume from the tops. I don't have an Aux Send. There is a Mon Send on the Mackie. Also no pre or post set. That's my dilemma on trying to control the sub with a separate volume from the mixer. Sorry for being long winded here. Thank you for your time Sir.

I have a set of ekx12p paired with 2 ekx18sp and that system is great. No issues at all. I've used them for large school dances. But the ETX series is a beautiful monster lol.... but heavy and a extra 400-500 each

Was that a fair comparison? the ETX top is a 15. Was the ETX bottom a 15 or a 18? if it is a 18 it would explain a lot.

Could you try this with other makes such as RCF and FBT please?

Brian, thanks for the awesome input. I currently have/use a pair of EV ZLX 12P tops, and a single ZXA1 Sub. This is awesome for small gigs and venues, but I am looking to start upgrading.
I need stuff I can store, pack, and setup myself fairly easily. the size and weight advantage of the EKX, as well as the price difference, has me hoping they will work out for me instead of the ETX series. I'm thinking I'll stick with 12P tops, and 15SP Subs. The eventual goal is 4 subs, 2 tops, and enough ZLX 12P tops for fills, monitors (in a live band situation), and for a second ceremony system. I'm thinking 5 of the ZLX speakers.
Do you think just one of the EKX 15SP Subs will add nicely to my existing pair of ZLX tops? Or will I need a pair to start with?

Would have been nice to here the sound difference. Talking about it an not being able to hear it does nothing for me bro. But thanks for the little piece.

Should I go with 2x15SP EKX or 1x18SP, with my 12" tops? for small gigs 100-200 people? I've been told that 1x 18's would offer more low end whilst the 2x 15's offer more punch?
