SLOW LIVING (In The Countryside) | Productive Winter Day in The Life//

Hello, this is Abby Jo at Forgotten Way Farms and today I’m talking about Slow Living in the countryside and how we keep ourselves productive during the winter days. I make some beautiful smoked pickled garlic, Daniel adds a new plug for our TV, puts together our wood rack, cleans the stove, and stacks wood. I get some free time to make some hot cocoa and read for a while. Join us as we practice slow living at our home in the countryside.

Laura Ingalls Wilder once said, “ Home is the nicest word there is “ I have to agree.

Slow living isn’t a trend for me it's a lifestyle I have embraced for years, I really learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of the everyday. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple”. I grew up on a farm and I think that furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.

For more on slow living check out our blog posts:

We moved six months ago to our cozy cottage, and we are in the process of fixing it up. I strive to make our home cozy and inviting no matter what stage of remodeling we are in. Making a home hygge and cozy is just a normal way of life for me and I can’t imagine it any other way.

Now I understand what you mean by “canning”. My grandmothers did this, but I always knew it as “preserving” or “bottling”. Thank you for another gentle home-loving video, Abby Jo. It’s beautiful to see you and Daniel taking quiet time out together. Take some extra time on Valentines Day this week!!💕

I love watching your videos, they calm me!!!! It reminds me that we need so slow down and cherish the simpler things in life. Life passes by quickly and most of us never seem to slow down enough to enjoy it. Thank you for sharing your family life and reminding us all what we all seem to forget:))))

I have found comfort in canning for 33 years now. There is nothing more rewarding then seeing the pantry shelves fill up with the fruits of our labors.

Wow, everything in this video is just right. I like the decoration in your living room, the armchairs, little table, radio, the paintings on the walls and how you two sit and enjoy a cup of tea ❤👍life is all about the good little moments enjoyed with your loved ones.

*The smoke pickled garlic looks sooo good, finding time to just be no matter if it's only 15 minutes is a blessing.*

I love those words " labor of love" I too am a stay home mom. We nourish our families bodies, and soul with the love we pour into as you said, "a hand made home" 💗💗💗

It's so important that we learn to slow down, appreciate the small things and be happy with what we have. 😊

I follow many channels on YouTube, however, yours has become my very favorite. I’m in my early 70’s now, but it reminds me of raising my kids, I homeschooled them, but I canned, still do and raise a garden. I love your tea/coffee breaks with your husband. God bless you!

Homemaking is a creative act of love. I am 65, and I find homemaking intellectually challenging, emotionally satisfying, and spiritually fulfilling.
PS Your husband is incredibly talented! I so enjoy watching him at work with his many projects. I admire him.

Wow! Thanks for the nifty idea for cleaning the door of the wood stove window. We have had a wood stove like that over 30 years and we had no idea how to clean it.

Thank you for sharing your day! We had a wood stove for many years. When we downsized to our home we are in now, we don’t have one. Have a blessed day!🙏💕☃️❄️
