The dark quiet of winter is far more appealing to me in my later years. This has been a very hard year health wise; I lost my sister who lived with me, my husband had a difficult surgery resulting in a stroke and loss of half his vision, and I was unwell too. But through it all our Lord was with us, and our relationship with him and our marriage deepened and enriched. This winter will be quiet and lovely and lit by His light. Come Lord Jesus.

A simple life is what I dreamed of my entire working life. We now have it. We spent 15 years building a rural homestead 3 hours from home after the ‘08 crash. Got ducks in a row and left suburbia. Best thing we ever did.

I also live with my hubby and dogs on a mountain. I haven’t yet got it all together yet but with the grace of God I will learn enough to help make things easier. This time of year is both glorious and heartbreaking. I too suffered the loss of my brother and many others. Today is my birthday and I’m going to treat myself to a special night of pampering. I love winter, every aspect of it . I love fall and slowly gliding into the short days . Spring is soft and fresh . Summer is hard, the light is invasive, the heat can really push you down … but the water gives refreshing and coolness . 🤗

I love all the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. Read them when I was a child, a teenager and then with my child! Those book's never get old. It definitely teaches you gratitude and so many more beautiful ways to live. ❤❤❤
