What he menas is: if you talk AI the stock goes up so I talk AI.

they were talking about Sony's PSSR for PS5 Pro

It means the CDNA matrix cores are coming to gaming like they should have done 3 gens ago.

It would be nice if the Radeon 8000 series that is only going to compete with Nvidia in the low/medium-powered GPU space can at least hang with a 4090 at the higher end of that range. Might get destroyed by 5080/5090, but if they can be competitive with a 2 year-old 4090 at a much lower price, that would be a win. Not holding my breath though…

Hey, Richard got a new camera! Looking better, Rich!

Most likely "PSSR" for PS5 Pro, not FSR for PC GPUs...

There are AI accelerators on all 7000 series GPU's as well as APU's though so it working only on that hardware would be what im expecting.

Is everyone forgetting something....

RDNA3 Wiki:
"RDNA 3 has dedicated AI acceleration with Wave MMA (matrix multiply-accumulate) instructions, which can improve AI-based performance by 2.7x and also benefits ray tracing instructions, similar to Nvidia's Tensor cores."

This comment is pointing to AMD bringing A.I hardware to the entire hardware stack. RDNA3 is the first to include 2 A.I cores per CU. Now RDNA3 has been deployed in desktop, laptop, mobile, and soon consoles with the PS5 Pro "rumoured" to be using a variant of RDNA3.5/4 that will also include A.I cores.

It is safe to say that FSR4 will have some form of A.I upscaling which is backwards compatible with RDNA3 GPU's but has a fallback for older RDNA2 and lower GPU's of just using motion vectors and spatial upscaling.

EDIT: Aren't they referencing the A.I. Cores in the new AMD APU's like the 8840u for handhelds that recently released? That fits the description of "AMD Gaming Devices" over a GPU.

I'm hoping that Windows leak a month or so ago means we're getting A.I. upscaling built into Windows that can use the NPU A.I. cores in the new AMD APUs like the 8840u that's starting to appear in Windows gaming Handhelds. It was my understanding that AMD did include NPU's in 7000 series GPUs but they don't do anything yet. Please correct me if that's not the case.

Avatar looks absolutely perfect with FSR three so if they even add some AI on top of FSR 3+ frame generation, I think AMD will rise up higher than it ever has forever

This upscaling is out of hand too many versions and devs dont implement them all most of the time or update them like in fortnite, where you can't do it yourself. It's a mess.

Rdna 3 does have AI, so do the 8000 series APUS

Really? No mention that this could simply be an add on device for cloud gaming? You know, the system used by "gaming devices"?

They should put AI upscaling into FSR three immediately for the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX because those are the most expensive cards that would benefit the most immediately then work on the other generations

Maybe the gaming device is a 40-inch foldable, portable, television.

Ryzen 8000-series chips have built-in AI NPUs. Gaming devices, which will likely shift to newer 8000-series mobile variants, I think is what AMD's rep is referencing and that the initial versions of AMD AI upscaling will leverage the on-CPU NPUs.

Rumor leak is that ps5p will have 300 tops ai ability within the silicone packaged APU. Is that ai added to the apu? don't know
Reference Tom's "Moores law is dead" Mar 17 video on youtube.
If accurate 300 tops is huge compared to 50 tops expected on amds zen5 strix point apus

They desperately need it so they can compete with RTX and force Nvidia to lower their prices.

u dont need too much fps with a crt. 60fps on a crt feels like 144fps on lcd display but without lag and instant response times

wow imagine being 6 years behind the ball on AI - whoever was in charge of that decision should've been fired
