Biden, in the first Leaders’ Summit of the Quadrilateral Framework, being held virtually on 12th March 2021. In this episode we will discuss and analyse the priorities and challenges for QUAD.

Australia wasn't very keen on Quad
but now is bcoz Chinese cyberwarfare is threatening its security
Why Japan is taking part: Opposed to Chinese expansionism is South China Sea and its claim on Shinbaku islands
Why USA is taking part: concerned with human rights abuses in China
wants to dispel speculation that it is withdrawing from the conflict (which China desperately wants)
wanted to involve regional stakeholders
Tangible outcomes:
collaboration (especially against China) on health, maritime security, security in Indo-Pacific, climate change and connectivity
Challenges:
how can India leverage evolving geopolitical landscape to its larger interests in Indo-Pacific region

SUMMARY:
1.PANT:
Significance: Infrastrucutre development, platform for building a vision., evolution of idea of Indo-Pacific. Biden can't ignore happenings in Indo-Pacific. His pivot to POTUS has made crucial contribution in resurrection of QUAD.

India: Vaccination effort, Pharama supply chine, are helping world over. With this India can bring in like minded countries to India.
Critical Technology: CC, Cybercrime need CriTech. As China is not going to put much of its resource to tackle them, QUAD should come forward.

China is elephant in the room. All 4 will provide framework for regional governance(CC, Vaccination)

2. Prabhu Dayal:
Quad is evolving very substantially, Countering aggressiveness of China. Speculation of Biden's -ve role has overturned. AUS: All 4-members have problems with China. AUS(Sanctions), USA(HR vilations, HongKong, Taiwan, INdoPacific Insecurity), Japan(Territorial), India(LAC).
Aus: China is bullying badly to Aus. QUAD lied in limbo in 2017 due to Aus. Cyberwarfare of China effected Aus.
India has to guard its national interest. QUAD is going to strengthen as CHINA is not going to put back its threat.

All 4 are working for rule based International Order. Solutions for emerging problems will be worked upon. The upcoming meeting will throw more light. THANKYOU!

The huge problem with quad is many asean countries view it as a western led initiative and another of USA's classic big brother attitude. USA knows this and is creating an ally to represent the brand. They tried to push India's image as a sentinel of the Indian Ocean but India simply lacks the infrastructure to go against China in these region. So USA pushed Japan as the image of the east. So if India wants to check China's rise in the IOR then it needs to look beyond quad. Indonesia is a key player in South East Asian polity and that is why USA is keen to include Indonesia into the quad. Vaccine diplomacy might be a good start for India.
