Sounds more like a case of undiagnosed mental illness and he walked away from his life. I know someone who did that. It takes a lot of searching the homeless communities to track them down. His first attempt was to walk into a wilderness with nothing, but we caught up to him that time.

I've read many things about Granger after seeing a YouTube video about him. Too many of these videos leave out the fact that Grangers pickup truck was found blown up not long after and there were brine fragments in it. Also Granger had a long history of substance abuse.

In 1979 I was 15 while traveling to Victoria Canada going through Duncan and looking in amazement at Granger Taylor's homebuilt restored Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk (aka Flying Tiger) fighter plane parked at a rare antique used car lot along the highway. I was blown away. I also recall that same year reading a newspaper article on Taylor and his Kittyhawk plane. I was stunned to learn, decades later that he would just vanish without a trace only one year later. I saw the CBC 1 hour documentary on Granger Taylor and his life, very sad.
