FINALLY
Someone who explains it properly
Im so sick of all the people trying to say you have to bend it or tie it or blah blah blah

Ive always done it like this. Not just because it works, but also because it is the cleanest looking way to do it.

He’s right ya know. I’ve been doing it like this for years, and never had tuning issues.

When I restring I pull the string through the tuner, tight, then I slide the string back from the nut to the first fret for sound strings and the second for the plain strings.

Perfect amount of slack every time.

Yes. No more tying knots around the tuner.

Very well done video! I've been playing for 40 years and can attest to this advice. Works every time.

Can you make a video of the difference between the slack method and the wrap the string around the post before method?

That’s how I do it .. never had an issue in 50 years of playing guitar.

Knots and the under wrap method are so annoying when it’s time to change strings, or if I got a used guitar and they haven’t changed strings (once got a guitar where the strings seemed to be five years old! Yuck!)

I prefer 1 wrap over subsequent wraps under

I do one above and the rest below. Had a guitar that the strings would slip if I didn't

That's too many wraps. Actually can cause tuning issues

PREACH!!! I found that mainly the guys with only two wraps per string were the ones who complained about tuning stability... you don't say!

What I recommend is to get the string as close to the washer without over-wrapping is the best way to increase tuning stability and it costs nothing since you would have thrown that part of the string away.😉👍✨

What do you do when the post has a slot instead of a hole, like my Yamaha FG-200?

I can't go back after using RATIO locking tuners

Incorrect. Pull the string all the way through, then pull back to second fret. Cut wire & hand wind, making sure the wire wraps neatly. Along with how you play, I know people playing for 40 years and they’ve broken a string twice in 40 years.

First wind bring that string end under the string.
Then then the remaining winds go over the string.
Squeezes the string between two winds.
