I recently bought a Brand new Martin & Co. Guitar, and I am changing the strings on it. The ones that came from the Martin factory have this nifty looking locking kink in them. I was wondering how in the heck can I achieve this, and you just showed me how. Thank you sir.

Great video, this is exactly what I needed! My only suggestion is to be aware of the camera location - often your hand hid the strings. But I'm right there with the rest of the comments! My strings used to look like a 5 year old put them on. Now we're up to 10 years old, but at least getting better. 🙂

i usually go the lazy bum way with locking tuners. however i didn't know that more angle down is better at the nut. will try changing this with a guitar i am experimenting with. thanks man!

Does this really matter? Mine have always been wound around itself over the top, some under the bottom, a complete mess with some loops sticking out, and the guitar always sounds fine.

I did my high E string perfectly and moved on to by B string and immediately I tighten it too much and busted it

locking the string on the post is not needed....2 bends into a 'Z' are plenty. Get 2 winds around the post at full tune and that is enough

Pro techs like myself never do this, sadly you had my friend, your former employee, Chelsea Clark, show how we do it, a much better way, locks as well, also shown by my friend Mike Hickey, Joe Bonamassa's tech.
