The title roped me in and the fourth minute just made my head go *poof*. It's such an obvious, almost intuitive insight when you think about it. I absolutely love this concept. I don't see it as a replacement for a strong understanding of the present counter/transference paradigm in any way. What this seems to represent is an evolutionary step in addressing it in a therapeutic context (and by extension, socially as well).

It may also point to a means of simplifying some of the weedier subtleties of these phenomena so that a practical understanding of counter/transference could be within reach of, and understood by, an audience which generally receives no more than a rudimentary overview of these dynamics. (Thinking specifically about two perspectives: unsupervised peer support and amateur psychedelic therapy.) This is another of those cases where you might already have most of the answer just from hearing the question. I could easily envision this becoming part of the Internal Family System canon in relatively short order.

Your book gave me a huge relief as I had the permission to use my transference and countertransference to regulate both clients and myself. Thank you^^ -Paul

Was telling a psychologist about sexual abuse when i was a kid when i noticed he had an erection. He turned around in his chair to hide his erection and told me the appointment was over to find my way out of the clinic.
He never did explain about Countertransferrence or somatic experiencing to me .
The fact that i meet his friends he spoke of after he fired me as a patient was very confusing and hurtful considering what they did to me.That was more than 10 years ago
