Square Enix are going multiplatform

Square Enix recently announced their “aggressive multiplatform strategy” after their financial year end results were WAY below what they had expected. And those platforms include Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, and PC so yeah it really sounds like we’re saying goodbye to console exclusives

I’m not a Final Fantasy person so let me know your thoughts on the change

It's nice to see Sony's checks werent enough. Unless the series started as a console exclusive, I don't see the point in making them so.
Also, I have FF VII, VIII and IX on cartridges for a Nintendo system just for the irony of it

The war of exclusives has to come to an end eventually. The gimmick only works to sell specific consoles, once that market has had its fill you then have no new customers.

Until next gen I'll be curious to see how many system exclusives actually come about.

To be honest, the only RPG series I like from Square Enix these days is Octopath. Not a big fan of the direction modern FF is going on. But it's good that they've made this decision.

The more platforms the better ! To not wait for a new and nice FF game or any Square Enix game will be far better that waiting a year or so for it

At the end of the day I know it sucks for folks who invested in PlayStation with this exclusive as a reason unfortunately Sony needed to put more money down to make this permanent. For me I'm happy to not have to wait as long as someone who prefers his pc

Tbh, they should also consider something OTHER than FF.

7 rebirth was a mess. Ff16 was boring, but good story.
Forspoken was the worst game i played in years...
Atm ff14 is the only ff thats really amazing atm
