You captured it perfectly! Her wit, her take on human characteristics and interactions- all so well done!

"You might like a little gushy video..." - yes please! This was like a hot chocolate for the soul. I agree with all of your points. Also that 1995 theme at the end gave me the shivers - I need to watch that again! One of my favourite funny quotes from P&P is this scene with Mr Bennet, after Lydia has run off with Wickham in Brighton:

---No officer is ever to enter my house again, nor even to pass through the village. Balls will be absolutely prohibited, unless you stand up with one of your sisters. And you are never to stir out of doors till you can prove that you have spent ten minutes of every day in a rational manner.''

Kitty, who took all these threats in a serious light, began to cry.

``Well, well, '' said he, ``do not make yourself unhappy. If you are a good girl for the next ten years, I will take you to a review at the end of them.''---

That moment in Pride and Prejudice you mentioned never gets old! Jane Austen is so brilliant and I love how detailed and complex her characters are! I think Elizabeth Bennet is one of my favourite characters of all the time. She is so incredible and she was such a huge role model to me when I was growing up.

Wonderful! I love her humor as well, I agree that is so refreshing :) I also love what we can learn and draw from her books. I loved all your reasons!

This is wonderful! The mix of timelessness and the influence of her time is so great!

New sub here! I've been so enjoying JA July! While I basically live on historical fiction and classics set in the 19th century, I've never really given Austen the attention she deserves. So, it's been so nice to spend a month just delving into Austen! I'm reading a lot of nonfiction about Austen currently, including What Matters in Austen and Jane Austen at Home by Lucy Worsley which are both excellent imo. Great video, and I agree with your insights!!

I've read 4/6 of Jane Austen's novels and liked them or thought they were okay, but the adaptations I've seen of her works I love! So, I don't get along well with her writing, which may change over time who knows, but I do enjoy and really like her STORIES. I still have yet to read Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. And despite not getting along with her writing that much I still want to read the other two novels of hers that I have left.

I agree about how funny she is, and not necessarily in the rom-com sort of way. It's a blend of that, and the satirical.

I can reread pride and prejudice and get some thing new out of it I never get tired of her books . With the pride and prejudice 95 series with Colin firth I never get tired off when I don't want to watch anything and want to watch some different I still enjoy it.

Yes a gushy video!! Jane Austen is so funny. I remember in Persuasion, where she wrote:-'He had, in fact, though his sisters were now doing all they could for him, by calling him "poor Richard, " been nothing better than a thick-headed, unfeeling, unprofitable Dick Musgrave, who had never done anything to entitle himself to more than the abbreviation of his name, living or dead.' And I was like, did she just...? LOL
