You should also remember that the more advanced a monitor is, the more graphically demanding it would be for your PC.

So if your current GPU is already powerful, then yeah, upgrade that monitor. But if your PC is a potato, you should focus on upgrading the PC, first.

You should also remember that regardless if you have 60hz, more fps would mean the age of frames is lower, meaning the game would feel smoother.

Whenever I save up or make a budget for a gpu upgrade, I try to allocate at least 40% of my budget to a new monitor if I need it. I find this eliminates bottlenecks and performance issues in general.

Graphical fidelity, 8 of my 8 friends all prefer fidelity over resolution provided they can still have a constant 60fps. Plus, old monitors aren't that bad. I have an old used monitor from 2009 that I got from a thrift store for $25, it was over $2, 000 when it was brand new and the screen is terrific, it's 1050p (not 1080p, 1050p) has really good color accuracy, and it's 75Hz. It's great value and realistically, I wouldn't get much more out of a new montor without spending $400+.
