Having characters in the very hungry status makes them susceptible to becoming sick so try to feed them at the second stage of hungry.

In a nutshell, it becomes best to feed your survivors every two days starting at day 3 if it can be helped. Sometimes it can be a challenge if you are unlucky with managing or trades, but it is not impossible as there are ways to hopefully manage it if you start to become desperate.
As such, starting at day three, feed all survivors for every subsequent odd day and you should be fine. Only do it very hungry if you are forced to ration further, as such dangerous stages can lead to sickness or sadness.

The slower movement speed at rough stages of hunger can suck when trying to scavenge, so keep your survivors fed bidaily if it can be helped. Feeding them at very hungry imo should be a last resort.

In my opinion, construction site is the best source of food. I just got 4 canned food, 7 raw food, and vegetables from there. Let's see if we can find another location with more food

I always do this strat no matter how much food I have which ends up me having 50+ canned food and alot of cooked food until ceasefire on 4-3 man runs.Really good strat but don’t be too conservative.You’ll end up having too much food wasted in the end

Feed everyone after every 3 days. DAY 5 to day 10, I raid warehouse and military. I sell bullets for food, then raid the building where people are kidnap.. During late game, i just rely on plants and traps

I always feed someone ever 2nd day, that means first 2 ladys get some food, next day 2 mens get food and so on.. (I'm always max on hungry1 and hungry 2 not more) and I always send the same person for rooting and always the same person for defend at base.

I always manage it to keep my characters well fed & content, they perform outstanding work in return, either when guarding or scavenging.


I got vegetables, two rat traps, & bunch of canned food from franko.

Their hunger level every day increases (from nomral to hungry and than very hungry )in my case

But when i feed them with simple vegtables and stuff like that it goes from, lets say hungry to stil hungry
