This is an unpaid review of the Dewalt DCF850B Impact Driver and a comparison of it to the Dewalt DCF887B.

20V Impact Driver Model DCF850B
20V Impact Driver Model DCF887B

At less than 4 in. in length, the Atomic 20V 1/4 in. Brushless Cordless 3-Speed Impact Driver can handle tight applications like narrow cabinetry or framing without the need for an additional tool. Though the Impact Driver is lightweight and compact in size, it does not sacrifice performance with its brushless motor that delivers up to 1,825 in-lb of torque and 3,250 rpm for driving large-diameter screws. Illuminate dim workspaces for enhanced visibility with the 3-LED on-board work light and keep your workflow consistent.

I love my DCF850. Plenty of power and its compact size is so helpful. Its my go to driver.

I just changed my handful of dcf887 to dcf850. A dewalt adviser told me "the newest, and best is the dcf850"

I just picked up mine today $89 new in box. Tool only but no biggie. Looking forward to putting the thing to work soon.

One thing I think you skipped over is that if you choose the 1st speed setting its good for setting screws in more delicate situations, like hanging doors. This is pretty huge because it means the impact driver can be used not just for its "muscle" but also where finesse is needed. More verastile and as a result its my go-to driver.

The 850 is a little monster, absolutely my favorite impact, the 850 is an XR over seas and only an Atomic in North America, I never use my 887 anymore.

I’m a year late to the party and I’m really late to the power tool game. I’m 37 and I just learned how to use power tools so I’m embarrassed to say it. I just invested in drills and impact driver and I bought the brushed combo ones at first and I ended up buying the dcf850 cuz my new job I always have to work in tight areas and the DCF850 is a great investment for me. The DCF850 Is my fave in my toolbox.

Hi, why does the bit holder swing a lot with the Dewalt DCF887N screwdriver? Do you recommend any model of small Dewalt impact wrench that does not have this defect? Thank you

Ever had trigger problems with your Atomic 850?

In my research on a new tool. I found that the 887 has had a burn up issue. Wonder if this is a real issue or just internet hype

Basically, any new tool branded Atomic is one they took the XR version and shrunk down without sacrificing performance.

I bought a $320 kit with the DCF850 and a compact hammer drill, worth every cent.

The XR is built tougher. Has stronger gears inside. The atomic is cheaper in build quality and more for homeowners.

*Drives 2 small screws*

“There they’re basically the same”

Run some 4” and 6” lags. Let’s see the real difference..
