I didn’t even recognise my husband one time he stopped me when I was getting off the bus (we’d been together 12 years at that point). If someone is somewhere I don’t *expect* to see them, I don’t recognise them. I go by voices, not faces.

This made bartending difficult. Regulars would be slightly hurt/offended when I didn’t remember them. Unless they came in ALL the time, then they might register in my brain.

I’m so guilty of this.. I can walk right past my FAMILY (cousins/aunts/uncles) in the store and not recognize them, and they’re like “Hey, you ignoring me”

Before I realized I was on the spectrum, I had so many awkward encounters with people b/c I have such pronounced face blindness, I couldn't recognize them outside of the classroom in the grocery store, on the street, etc. It's great to know I'm not alone and that there are people like me getting embarrassed everyday lol

I get issues with knowing the face, however, if it's not in the setting that I initially know them from, I'm screwed. Does that make sense?!

My husband has this. But he is compensating this with being crazy good at recognizing voices. He would be great in the panel of Masked Singer. LOL

I didn't recognize my Mom when she came into my job once. I took her order and it didn't register until my coworker told me haha

I identify with so many ASD traits but am the opposite. I can't forget a face. I am constantly aware of my surroundings almost to a point where it's uncomfortable. This is why I love masks, sunglasses, and headphones so much!

Happens a fair amount. There's also the aspect of being so hyper-focused on getting from point A to point B while out in public, and thus I intentially "tune out of" my surroundings (to my best ability); it's a way of not subjecting myself to unnecessary sensory stimuli and stress, as well. Got plenty of messages from people going like "I saw you downtown/on the city railway/outside today!" without me ever having noticed them in return. Whoops.

I was reading stories where characters had face blindness and I thought it was weird till I realized that I had a bit of it too. I usually remember people by what they wear or a special accessory they have. If I am in the store and I am looking for my aunt, I have a hard time finding her in the winter when she is wearing black because everyone is wearing black (most winter coats lately come in black) and they all burr together. I even confuse people who have similar facial features and hair but have different skin tones. Last week I could not find my aunt because I thought she was wearing a different color shirt and I realized later that I think I passed her as I was coming into the store and she was leaving.

Yep, and if they're wearing sunglasses I have no hope, don't get me started on masks.

For me it's not with everyone thankfully

Holy shit. I used to do this all the time. Probably why most of my friends disappeared.

I- I literally just smack the table so hard. This is literally me! I do it to family too.

It usually follows with my friend calling to me and then me either not hearing them over the noise in the environment, or hearing them and not being able to figure out who said my name

OMG🤯 this literally JUST happened tonight at the grocery store with a coworker I spent all day with…and it took me three glances to register with my brain that it WAS her- she looked at me like I’d lost my mind!

Its a bit complicated. When it comes to ignoring I think its just the think You do, right?!(mutism???).Then You dont look at people genuinely(being submerged in Your own world with Your thoughts/tired?)and on top of that I got condition that affects my eyes and kinda makes me blind as well....YEEEEAHHH ;) best wishes! <3

I can remember stuff about people. But, their name will escape me. Hell. I've even had it where if if they aren't wearing a hi-viz top. I don't know who i'm looking at.
