There are few things that disappointed me about the RE2 remake, one of them is that this theme only plays for a few seconds when you first enter a save room, and you never hear the whole thing. I just want to hear this on a loop every time I enter a save room!

There's a definite haunting fear there but also a subtle sadness. Like knowing you're in a terrible situation and you're scared, but you take time to reflect and you feel sad about all the death and destruction around you. That's what this music speaks to me anyway.

Edit: After some thought, the sadness makes sense to me more, being that it's a save room where in RE typically you're temporarily safe so there is time to calm down and reflect on what is happening.

I listened recently to the older one to compare with the new.

The older one is more meditative. I feel safer. I can catch a breath before I can move on. I feel I can gain hope again.

This one this is is worrisome. I feel safe, but only for a moment. I wonder though if these are my last breaths. I feel a sadness because of my dire circumstances, wondering if I will make it alive from this crisis.

I actually like this version a bit more, to me it has a deeper sense of growth and foreshadowing of who these main characters will become in the later titles. The save room themes to me in the older games were always meant to give you a moment a relief from the horror, but I think the composers for this are attempting to make the themes relatable to the characters and not just the scenario itself. It carries the same quality as well with RE7's save theme. It may be coincidental but the similarity of this theme and the merchant's theme in RE4 could have a meaning behind the thought process of keeping the score familiar, and not just a simple recomposition. Considering how most of us have already played the past games, seeing Leon again as "rookie" inexperienced, unsure, and being trained by Marvin in his final hours; hearing this theme and thinking about RE4's Leon and Save theme, gives me chills thinking about how he's changed.

Resident Evil 2 Save Room original will always remind me of Claire for some reason, but hearing this one with a bit of RE4's save room theme, knowing RE4 will always remind me of Leon. Now this version can also remind me of Leon, that atmospheric sound is like Leon's note. It's like this version was the prequel to RE4's save room theme.

I love the ambience of the new Save Room theme. It sounds more theatrical than the original. But Remakes can't beat their predecessors.

I can see where Capcom was going with the save room theme in trying to to make it sound very chilling, but it still feels kind of empty. Like it needs more. Even the save room theme on RE7 had more of an oomph music wise while still feeling somewhat empty. But this one just sounds almost like if no music is being played.

I have played re2 over 20 times and i must say that this theme fits remake much more than the original soundtrack(i didnt say it is better), when you come into the saferoom music starts playing only when you turn the lights on, and you realise you are safe in there, the time around you slows down and you think about the worst that is going to happen on the rainy streets of Racoon city and other areas, and i really like the cracking noise, it reminds you that only a thin piece of wood or metal defends you from the horrors that await you outside, this theme is really beatiful

I bought the pre order for the orginal sound track 🔥 brings back memories and sounds a little more scarier than the remake soundtrack .
