I close my eyes. It's 1998. I am a ten years old kid. My dad is downstairs doing some coffe. Been playing the whole Saturday Resident Evil 2. I am in the save room, reading the few documents I have found scattered in the police station. The story, combined with the music give me the shivers. Later this same day we travel to the city to visit my grandparents. They are still alive. Once out of the car, this song is still playing in my head. I wonder about the infection, the zombies and the police station.

I open my eyes. Only one day and it's 2021. My grandparents are long gone. My childhood is a distant memory. But I can go back there every time I listen to this music. Thank you Capcom for the first three Resident Evil games. They mean my whole childhood.

I used to work as an overnight security guard at an old creepy water pumping facility and I used to get on my phone and cue up this song to go around and do my patrols. It definitely made work a bit more fun

This song tells you: "You are safe here, but you are a prisoner since outside your fears await, the temptation to just stay here in this place is too great, but you must continue and reach the end"

This takes me back to being 12 years old again watching my dad and uncle play. We used to run to 711 before hand to get drinks and snacks then come back and me and my bro would watch my dad play as my uncle served as his point man. Like many things, it brings back good memories. Very ambient but also very real. Dads been gone 8 yrs now, and after beating re 7 earlier this year, I remember thinking how much he would have loved that game. That said, nothing beats the magic of this and the memories its tied to.

This theme brings me back to those summer mornings when my mom and I would be playing Resident Evil along with my sister and my dad.

My mom has all the puzzle-solving smarts while I do all the running that outmaneuvers all the zombies and monsters.

My dad would then order pizza while my sister squealed whenever a zombie dog would lunge at Claire/Leon.

I miss those summer days and wish to have more with my loving family .^_^.

It's 1am. You're 8 and just had the most traumatic experience with battling G, and you find a save point. Those were the days. . .

This perfectly captures the feeling of a short-lived moment of peace. Ammo's low, you're barely clinging on to life surrounded by monsters, but for just a brief moment, you can relax.

I used to work at a coffee shop that allowed me to play my own music. You better believe this song was on my playlist. I considered that place to be a save room for tired people.

Out of all RE2 tracks, this one gives the most nostalgic feel for some reason.

The nostalgia in this theme is beyond words. One of the very best themes ever created for a survival horror game. Feel it deep in your soul.

Years later I'm sitting in my room looking through the window with this song playing in the background. It got me thinking about life like never before. Emotions started rushing so strong I almost started crying. I began remembering times in my life when I was happy and when I was sad. None of those moments can even start to compare to this feeling that is emanating from this music, and I know a lot of You share the same emotion as I do. Twenty plus years later and nothing has changed. It's like time is standing still. I've listened to a fair share of music in my life but nothing makes me feel like a seven year old child, scared, yet happy, while those piano notes keep on resonating through my whole being. I very well know nothing is actually the same, and time is flying by so fast. If I somehow manage to be alive, twenty years from today, when I hear this again, no matter the circumstances, I know everything will still be the same and everything will be good... safe... in a Dark Room. I just can't describe it. If I am to die right now I would not have a single regret in my life, being so proud that I've had the luck to be born just to hear this melody. And for that I am forever grateful.
