A lot of times, what you're paying for in the more expensive cards is build quality and cooling design. Cheaper versions of 'the same' card will perform essentially the same, but if they're made with cheaper components or poor cooling designs that allow the card to get a lot hotter, it can be at the expense of durability and longevity.

Usually you'd pay the price difference not for the performance but for the longevity, noise level, temperatures, aesthetics and overall build quality.

Having the extra 2GB vram only really helps for texture mods that increase vram usage.

Instead of buying a very expensive 2060 I bought a used 2070 🧠

The 12gb version has a few more CUDA cores compared to the 10gb version... and the 12gb model has a bit more memory bandwidth, which is the same as the 3080ti
10gb 3080 = 8704 Cuda Cores
12gb 3080 = 8960 Cuda cores

The biggest difference is the temps and with this, the core frequence range.

Not that I need to, but can confirm generally 1-3 frames differences per game on 5900x & 12900KF, EVGA 3080 FTW3 ULTRA 10GB vs EVGA 3080 FTW3 ULTRA 12GB. (KR vs KL)

It looks like memory bandwidth is what affects performance the most, great video.

I'm not at all impressed with Lovelace. Maybe RDNA3 will be priced more competitively and be more power efficient. Going to stick with my 3080 FE for years to come.

I bought the Suprim X 12gb about a month ago on a 20% off sale. Its an awesome card. At 100% fan and a cool night (18 degrees) i can get 2295mhz out if it. But run out of power at 430w. Ive had it running at 1815mhz (800mv) from day one, never breaks 60c

MSI card is overrate. Palit card is always cheaper and run cool enough if not cooler.

Had the Palit card with the same cooler, only 3090. And it started to have thermal problems a year in it's life. Had to replace thermal pads, because stock ones caused heatspreader to push thermal paste off the chip in one place, forming uncovered hot spot. I would advise getting something else, evga or founders are good options

Performance has always been nearly identical. You're paying for the asthetics of the card. How much does the look mean to you?

Near my house, a Computer store's saling used Palit 3080 10GB GPUs at 540$.

Just confirming, will 3080 be enough to play games at 1080p for the next 4-5 years?

Thanks! The name of the cards and specs would have been nice to know.

Pointless to test at 1440p, 4k would split those apart. Intersting to see 12gb cheapo drawing 10w more often and 0-10% more frame in most games
