Multiple terminals is handy if you don't want to use Tmux or GNU Screen. I tend to use different terminals for sudoing or remote connections (ssh sessions, etc) to keep them as separate as possible, and one main terminal for my user session with Tmux (which makes things like copy/paste easy, and also lets you lock the terminal if you are doing something with elevated privs and have to step away). Edit: this also reminds me of when Windows had OK/Cancel buttons on the login screen: the Cancel button dropped you into a "guest" desktop 🤭 I don't remember whether they removed that in Win98 or WinXP, but I'm pretty sure Win95 had that "feature" by default. I suppose a similar thing to do on Linux would be having an autologin terminal on e.g. terminals 2 and 3, but showing a login prompt on the default terminal 🤣 a little securitish by obscuritish!
