Can you be my mentor? Here are my tips to finding and approaching a Mentor in Real Estate or, in any profession. In this video, I outline the simple ways to find a mentor, connect and maintain it. This is the question I get all the time, but with the wrong approach.

It is very important to begin searching by evaluating what niche you want to target. Next, do some research and find out who has a few or more similar qualities and success stories that you want to one day achieve.

Once you decide on someone, figure out what they're passionate about. Then do something with said information. This will get you farther than others and separate you from the rest of the crowd with their generic inquires. It shows the drive and motivation that a Mentor would respond to. Remember, if you're looking for a mentor, odds are they are extremely busy so you need to make an impact or they will view you as a waste of their time otherwise.
By following this advice, no matter what stage you are at in your real estate investing journey, you'll be able to establish an excellent relationship with many Mentors along the way.

As time passes, and you grow from experiences, your network will grow too. You then can take the influence of the successful people around you and join them or even get a mentor that is a few more steps ahead, but this time you'll know the right way to get their attention!

I feel like asking someone to be a mentor is like asking a girl to be your girlfriend. Just go out and build a relationship with them. You can ask for advice on specific things any time. Whenever I hear somebody straight up ask if a person will mentor them, I question what exactly they expect the mentor to do. Offering to add value in a specific part of the business just shows that you have the focus of somebody who is serious and not just another foggy eyed beginner who hasn't developed a clear plan.
