VirtualBox Tutorial - Giving VMs Internal Network, Host PC and Internet Access

You can use a NAT networking adapter and Host-only networking adapter to allow VMs to communicate with each other, the Host PC and the internet.

Step 1) Create Host-only Network (this will act as our internal network)
Step 2) Add Host-only network to VMs
Step 3) Configure the Network Adapters on the VMs
Step 4) Open traffic for the VM Firewalls on the Host-only Network Adapter

Everything about this video is 100% free and for you!

NOTE: for newer versions of VirtalBox, the host-only adapters are no longer under preferences. Now they are found in the File menu under "Host Network Manager".

Spent nearly an hour for searching and setting up my host-only network on virtual box, not knowing about windows firewall policy effects on this network adapter. Really glad that I visited this video. I am able to ssh into VM on the host-only network after 2 hrs of battle now! :)

THIS! Is what I've been searching for! I don't know how to express my gratitude towards you, I was about to cancel my course in Networking thanks to the firewall being an issue and blocking my connections to my AD domain. Thanks a ton, now I can eat and sleep properly again.

You are a life saver. I have an octopus server on my host machine and think I accidentally got networking to allow Octopus to talk to a tentacle on a Win 2016 Server on VirtualBox - this was in the morning. After I had to reboot everything stopped working and I spent the entire day scratching my head and trying to get this setup to work again. Luckily I found your video an it was a piece of cake afterward. I can't say thanks enough. Paul, Thanks. And all the best with everything in life :). You are the greatest!

This video helped me SOO MUCH. I couldn't figure out why a VM setup with Windows XP and a 20-year-old software package that I wrote and support for a customer couldn't print to my network printer. I was searching for days until coming across this video. The excellent manner in which it is presented made it very easy to follow.😊

I have been looking into this mess for 4 hours by now, until I stumbled upon your video. As it turns out, the only step I kept missing was the part where you unticked Ethernet2 checkboxes. Now it works like a charm. You are a life saver, sir!

You know what's great about these old videos? They are still relevant today.
P.S. Is anyone using ipv6 yet? LOL

super useful to clarify the networking with virtual box. i saw so many tutorials for "internet access" where they told you to just shut off your wifi, put it to bridged, then turn on your wifi.

(yet to test if my vm works with this, it might not its a little iffy, but holy man this tutorial taught me SOOO much)
