Heat, cold and water will destroy that adhesive in a very short period of time.

I did this and it's now gone. Roots got really hot and the cinderblocks heated up and dried out the dirt. Nothing grew for long.

My plants didn't grow well in them. Something in the concrete plus the build up of heat worked against the plants.

I did this once … one year … 1. chiggers love cinder blocks - I didn’t know that.
2. Uncomfortable to sit on but worse to lean over
3. Alkalinize the soil, which I didn’t need
4. Ugly, but had access to so many. Still really are ugly
Year two … gone!

That is awesome. Very creative. I built a raised planter with blocks and glue similar to what you're doing. 7 years later its still solid as the day I built it.

Why glue them together? You lose the ability to reconfigure or move them later on.

Cinder blocks are very alkaline, especially new ones

Gets so hot inside the blocks. Bakes the plants inside the block. Tried it!

Why adhesive instead of mortar? I don't know much about cinder block building but figured mortar would be cheaper.

Cement blocks. Cement blocks. Cement blocks. Cinder block was discontinued about 1958(?)

Roots will bake. The dirt likely won't be able to hold moisture well enough for good growth. I would suggest drought tolerant plants. This is the voice of experience. I ended up filling mine with ornamental rock. Live and learn. I don't use masonry products for raised beds anymore.

These make controlling nutrients difficult but would love an update to see how your plants are doing. At least you have the depth of the Top Caps to fill with soil. Although the caps may fall off quicker than you hoped for.
Unless you plan to put a tree in or large bush, most of the bottom half of most containers are actually wasted space/soil so you are limiting that wastage at the bottom so this might work out very well in the end but your plant choice will be important.
You could also mix in Water Gel Beads to help sustain moisture for when you don't want to water every day but you would need a lot.
Alternatively you could put a tiny whole in a few 2 ltr milk bottles and half bury it so the water will drip out very slowly which will help to give it water. Do some research on it.
Please update us in a few months or next year with the pros and cons of your project 💜, Good luck

You will need to use muriatic acid or some other additive in your soil because the concrete in the cinder blocks will stunt the growth of whatever you plant.

hey friends in the comments that are dissing this. i made one in my backyard about 3 years ago. gets planted every year with absolutely zero issues, the plants are happy and bloom so nicely, and it looks really lovely. if you feel like someone is doing something wrong, provide kind, constructive criticism rather than being demeaning. itll get you much further. and its also okay to acknowledge that sometimes its none of your business and you can just let people live their lives and learn and grow.

My LORD! One can't help but think that everything structural in North America is either glued or stapled 😬 according to number of people doing all these DIYs 😬

Only artificial plants would grow well in them like that or ice plant. The cement absorbs heat. Where we live the plants would fry
Looks nice though

you need to replace the dirt with at least 30% new dirt each year for nutrition reasons. Have fun digging the dirt out of these holes! Seems like a great idea but I would not put dirt in those holes

Waiting to see what you intend to grow in there.

Guys when applying mascara onto the lips remember to just dive right into it and use full scoops out of your compact.
