Highly recommend the original Minimalist documentary to help encourage living a minimalist style. Nothing wrong with new things or nice things, but this definitely helped change my mindset to be wiser with my spending ways.

I can never understand that question, because who doesn't like to buy nice and better things? I see it more as a question of responsibility, rather than being a "spender". Spender is just another word for impulsive and irresponsible. How do i not be irresponsible or impulsive seems like a more realistic question if you ask me.

This video was made for me lol prioritising my needs first has really helped me cut down my spending. What do I HAVE to spend money on in order to function day to day? Anything outside of that is a luxury. If I have a desire to buy clothes, tech etc I bookmark it for at least a week and think about how much use I'd get out of the item. If I still desire the item after this period, I buy it. If the desire isn't as strong, I leave it. I've saved myself from making impulse purchases with this method.

It’s harder to stay excited as you progress along the steps.

The budget is permission for you to spend. I recommend using cash and planing a list and sticking to it

Anthony must be a real spender I loved it when Chris affirmed (uuhh) Anthony's comment about being a big spender.

If you enjoy spending, create a “budget spending category” that is dedicated to “wealth building” (for the kids).

Determine what's truly important to you. If you can focus your spending on only those things and cut down on the things that are less important, that's a good start.

I’ve been pretending to save up for something so I don’t spend it...it’s been good for me

Auto-save and invest your income to come out of your account before you even see it. Then, she should allocate herself a Impulse Spending Fund amount in her budget each month (ex: $300) that rolls-over.

"natural spender" just sounds like an excuse people tell themselves to justify their impulsive purchases. I have a hard time believing "spender" is an sctual character trait.

If later you don't want to have to tell your kids
"No, there's no money in the budget to do that"
you're first going to have to learn the discipline of telling Yourself "No" when it comes to buying the latest and greatest things that you may not Need but definitely want.
You must learn the art of balance.
Take a little from here so later you can have more There.

There's no such thing as a "natural spender". Just a person who has low self control, or isn't intentional with their spending
