I had a small punchlist of items to do with the CAT 3306 that we rebuilt with @CostexTractorParts for our 977L track loader and I may have messed up big time...

I was a master mechanic for 20 years. Most of the guys I worked with gave me hell for aligning the belts the was you did. Good job. Good enough, is the greatest enemy of greatness.

I am delighted that you found the problem and I hope that the engine will run smoothly and perfectly for thousands of hours 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🏻

Instead of changing the head on the other engine you have an easy option to fix it. Run an external oil oil feed to the rocker shaft or pedestal. Drill and tap the shaft or pedestal 1/8" npt and use a #4an fitting. I have built many different engines that have lubrication issues and I figured out ways to get more oil to places.
I have also done internal oil feed lines running through one of the oil drain back holes all the way from the head to a main oil gallery in the bottom end.

There's something uniquely satisfying about working on these classic engines. 💪

Awesome build! A lot of attention to detail. We’ve all been there with hiccups, look forward to the install 👍

Great job young man. It should run a long time again. It looks and sounds like you should readjust the valves before you dtop it in the loader. I saw a couple of loose ones. Not good for the camshaft. Keep up the good work 🍷😎👍

Conngratlations! Job well done. Had to find all the nuances in changing parts and replacing damaged parts. Great troubshooting and checking that everything works. Most folks would have "sent it" but you persevered to make sure all is correct.

I love watching the rain and love the smell of rain too! But here in Louisiana it seems like this year it’s just too much rain and I’m going to regret saying this but we need a break from the rain for a while! My yard is like a wet sponge and by the time it starts to dry! The rain starts coming again! 🤦🏼

there is no better build channel on youtube. no, i haven't seen them all, i don't have to. the no fake drama approach, the evidence of homework and research, and the quiet monologue appeal to me as a viewer. thank you for having a really nice channel that appeals to no nonsense men. very best wishes, please take the time to be proud of yourself.

Not sure if you put coolant in straight away, but when we rebuild any engine, the first 500km is always on water only. Coolant is very viscous, and will find any place it can to go. Once first run is good, allow engine to cool, then do coolant.

Sounds pretty good never really know until after the break in period always good bit of metal on drain plug after first cpl oil changes used to work on those in some cat dozers those are stout engines much rather prefer them to the 3116 or 3208. Great video !
